One of the fans kicked the can, and I'm looking for replacement. Looking for the part number didn't give me any leads and the one I've found doesn't inspire too much confidence. Is there any compatible fan from other cards that I could use instead?

Have you tried contacting the manufacturer's support? There's always the option of strapping a case fan on it. I couldn't imagine paying much for a fan for that older card.

Well getting legit parts knowing they will work is better than getting fans that may not work.

Anyways RX 580 pulse fans are the same as rx 590 pulse.

Do a general search on your favorite search engine such as lycos or go on ebay.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the references I'm finding is that they are only the same to the Nitro+ version, not the pulse, since one have 90mm fans vs 95mm, is this wrong?

Most fans can be got through eBay as you have to measure the fan from one fin to the other fin in a straight line that give you the radius for example 75mm fan as it available only difference is how many screws holes to attach to the shroud. I will point out that it may have different fan design/better motor/sticker. Unless the fan can be fixed by blowing out dirt and oil up the shaft bearings

Well, I don't know where your "references" are located; hopefully you are not exclusively relying on YouTube or Reddit for this type of information.

The Sapphire corporate website seems to think different than your sources.

Both the Sapphire Pulse RX 590 and Pulse RX 580 have 92 mm fans.

The Sapphire Nitro+ RX 590 and Nitro+ RX 580 use 95 mm fans.

None of these cards use 90 mm fans as far as I can tell from the Sapphire webpages.

But don't blindly take my word for it, go visit the Sapphire corporate website yourself. All of this is prominently described under the Cooling tab for each product SKU.

Or cite your references that contradict the Sapphire corporate website. Personally I would trust the manufacturer for this type of information.

But that's just me...

you are quite right. I had to have the mouse pointer hover over cards picture to see the size of the fans.

The references are the sellers, since they put that info on their listings. Zero reddit or youtube. The inRobert that I linked for example says 95mm (3.74 inches ~= 95mm).

Look, it's up to you to decide whom to trust whether it be some random schmuck on Reddit/YouTube/whatever, a third-party merchant on Amazon/Aliexpress/Newegg/fleaBay/whatever, or Sapphire corporate.

One thing I do know is that Amazon product descriptions aren't 100% accurate all the time.

Moreover, this is about a replacing a fan for a graphics card in your physical possession, possibly one that is sitting on your desk. When you measure the fan diameter, what do you come up with? I'm guessing that it will come up as 92 mm. Not 90 mm, not 95 mm.

If you are confident that the inRobert product will work, go ahead and buy it.

Personally I would rather opt for a genuine replacement part from the manufacturer over an aftermarket part from a third-party merchant.

But do what you want. It's your money (and time if you end up returning it).

If your card is a blower type I'd recommend you get Arctic Accelero III/IV if not then get a pair of cheap Arctic P12 fans and call it a day ;).

I'd go for the Amazon fan or get rid of the plastics and ziptie two 92mm case fans to the card and call it a day.
The stock fans Sapphire uses are also "chinese" so if that's what's worrying you...

So, several developments but I'm going to post for what I believe should be helpful to people that has the same problem:

The fan is a CF1015H12D, DC 12V @ 0.42 amps, brushless. That fan is 95mm. Why does Sapphire website says 92? Dunno.

Sapphire support works weekends too, I got an email sunday.

Due having to take the card out and figure out where the serial number is (hint: it doesn't say it's a serial number/SN/serial anywhere, but it should be besides the product number and SKU) I disassembled the card and reassembled it and now the fan spins.

Now answering the specific replies:

  • Due the card being mostly in working order until this day, I'm not willing of throwing the shroud and slapping fans into it. If I ever plan to pass the card to someone else, I want to give it in the best condition for that person.
  • Sapphire website is crap. The reference to fans being 92mm is from the product marketing, and when you search on other products, like the Nitro, that specification isn't there. Sapphire corporate apparently doesn't know their products enough to talk about specific parts.

First of all I'm glad your card's fan is working again.

Concerning the Sapphire website and their customer support quality, I'm more disappointed than surprised to hear of Sapphire corporate's lameness. (sigh)

On a more positive note at least someone is monitoring the inbox on a weekend.

As the owner of both Sapphire Pulse Radeon RX 580 and Sapphire Pulse Radeon RX 550 cards, your followup commentary is indeed helpful.

Jeez only somebody could use a mm ruler to measures exact size as there's a lot confusing in this thread

Well yes, but actually no. It's not as simple as grabbing a ruler and measuring, the same goes for ceiling fans, desk, box, and so on. If the number of blades is odd then you have to measure it like this
1659383070537.png

The Amazon fan has 9 blades AND they're curved so you'll have to measure in a diagonal, from the outermost part of a blade to the center *following the curve* which can lead to some confusion and manufacturers often round up the number to 92 or 95 depending on how pronounced the curve is, you won't find 93.386mm fans out there. This would be the ELI5 explanation, there's actually a whole set of angle measurements and equations that have to be applied in order to measure a curved fan blade.

The way I do the measurement is start from the centre of the fan to the tip of the blade for example 45mm then times 2 = 90mm in radius
