was looking into this one with some good thermal paste from artic cooling what do you think??? looking to spend within the $100 range ! what do you think is the best cpu fan?

It looks huge man. Imagine how much will weight filled up with watter. But I like it. Something like Akasa Revo Thermodynamic AK-925 but on pure water I think. To beat the best coolers in 100$ range is very hard. There are decent competitor from Scythe, Zalman, Thermalright, Thermaltake, Noctua. There is a standard for me in below 100$ and its name is Thermaltake Big Typhoon. If KINGWIN can beat it - buy it and you won't regret.

reviews for this cooler are mixed, wasn't sure if I should spend the money or not but i'm not sure if I can trust these people and there reviews. Most of them don't know what there doing you know.

Yes, indeed. Therefor TT CL-P0xxx is A Standard. Very hard to beat. And I am not sure that KINGWIN will do such a thing, because it is difficult and rear to be seen. Not even with innovations like those.

If your budget is that high, I'd consider one of the high end coolers like Zalman CNPS9700, Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme, Thermaltake V1, or the new Scythe Zipang (dont know if its out yet).
edit: Also, the new Scythe Ninja Copper cooler looks promising here...

I already have a Zalman CNPS9700 NT, the scythe and mugen both look the same.

Yes. Mugen means infinity in Japanese (like Honda Mugen). Mugen is Infinity rev.2 . The only difference is included fan (more RPM and made by Scythe - not Akasa, PVM 4-pin too). Akasa fan is a good one by the way. Very quiet, practically inaudible on max speed 1200RPM when placed in closed PC case. It is made for Scythe with certain modifications like additional capacitor. I know because have disassembled one fan and electronically it is different from Akasa original DFS -122512L - I have that one too. The new one will be even better. More airflow means more heat dispersions from the fins, great cooling. It will certainly beat Zalnan 9700 LED. The big advantage for this cooler is that temperatures on full load are only few degrees above that in idle.
There are few minor disadvantage in mounting clips - they are Intel design (poor pressure on the CPU heatspreader) and no other goodies like RPM regulator or nice thermal compound included (Silmore is not good for such a masterpiece in cooling solutions). Infinity/Mugen is near 1kg without fan and won't fit in cases less then 18 cm in width. Also it's fan clips can block some RAM stick with tall heatspreaders when installed lined up with case-fan.

i have the zalman 9700 and i will say it is huge, but it does its job well. I can get 3.6GHz on mine but i need better SP/MCP chipset coolers.

But it is less efficient, lauder and more expensive then Mugen. And when it's fan stops working you have to throw it away. There are some issues with Zalmans ball bearings - there is no grease (lubricant) in them and this means unpleasant noise right out the box and wearing out long before 100k hours. If you own Zalman VGA cooler you will know that.

Super coolers are in range when somebody have 100$ to spend. This means no limitations. All two or 4 core possessors from AMD or Intel are supported. Overclocking to 3 Ghz and beyond is possible. But you have to be enthusiast to buy such monster.

+1 120 Ultra Extreme.. These cheap bastards are good. You must lap it though.. the base is not flat (perpendicular to heatpipes)

I had the same case on my Ultra-X once.. I lapped it and is now flat.. temps went down by 1-2 degrees.
