Looking to replace my iPad 3 16gb need some advice

I love my iPad 3. The device is fantasic but it does not have enough built in memory for all my school work. So I am going to go the android route and want some advice on what to go with. I would buy a iPad 3 64 gb but it is way out of my price range. I am currently looking at these two tabs. I do like the Samsung but the resolution is too low.
Which one do you like? Do you have any suggestions?

Do you really need a 10.1" screen? If not: Nexus 7, yep only 7", but that's the one I would pick if I wanted a tablet.

I've used one of these ASUS TF700Ts before; very solid tablet. Keyboard is handy and battery life is decent.

Samsung's resolution, comming from an Ipad 3, is not good enough, and I need a ten inch screen. I use my tablet as a laptop substitute .

I'd vote for Nexus 10. Can't get a better resolution than that anywhere. The Exynos SoC in it is rather nice.

It is no better than a ipad 500.00 for 32gb and no SD card. Why they did that is anyone's guess. It is very nice though.

My IPad pisses me off because I tape my college classes on it, and with that and my school books and papers on it, it fills up leaving no room for music or games. 32 gb might not be enough with no SD card.

Google does own them. No where near the same resolution but they look very similar.

Hang on, don't those Samsungs infringe Apple's patents and should be banned? And by extension, so do all the other brands, because they copy Apple's patented rectangle and run Android.

Better flog the iPad and save your pennies for that 64GB iPad.

My kids have Acer tablets and they are nice but I am not sure about the display. Anyone own a windows tablet? And are they crap?

I would wait 6 months.

The latest Iconia is the W700-6691. link Amazon currently have them available for $887.99. That should drop by a fair margin once the competition catches up.

In 6 months time more tablets should be out with similar specs. The tablet of choice atm is one that runs a full version of windows and has a much stronger core than is in the mainstream.

Another option in the meantime is picking up a dictaphone. You will get a better quality audio, and it will store the information away from the iPad so your not filling up the memory all the time.

something like this offers SD memory card storage and better quality audio than the Ipad will deliver.

I agree! Great tablet with the ability to purchase the keyboard/dock/battery giving the transformer even better battery life.

Storage is the key here and then laptop like ability. I would like to stay in the $470.00 range. My ipad meets all my needs but the storag part, however, my old Motorola Xoom FE was good as well but at the time there were no true word processors. Now that issue is gone with Cloudon and Kingsoft office etc. I use Notability to take notes and it is iPad only for now but I am sure Android has a decent note taking app.

I think the Galaxy note might be okay even with the 1280x800 resolution Samsung screens seem very bright, yet for that price the Asus tablets or Acer tablets seem better.
