looking to upgrade my crappy 960 to a 1070 or 1080 some people are saying there's not really a difference between the 1080/1070 for the price of a 1080 I can buy a 4k TV. I am also kinda a fan of RGB lighting,I know some people don't like it but I do. I want to play native 4k gaming to.

The 1070 will run 4K just fine. It just won't max out games at 4k, you'll have to turn down some settings, but you can still use pretty high settings.

I really don't want to spend the money on the 1080, but I know I defiantly see the difference from my 960 maybe I should do a lot more research on it plus the good advice I always get on here.

Either get a 1070 and drop visuals or get a 1080 and have better performance overall. You get what you pay.

For 4K you're going to need at min a GTX 1080 heavy OCed, or lower the settings like AA, and quality from Ultra to High or Very High. The better option would be the Titan XP, but that is just plain stupid. If you could wait, maybe the VEGA from AMD has something to offer, but I think they come out in May or smth. Well for now your only logical option remains the 1080. If you're looking for LED there's a lot of models out there, the EVGA 1080 FTW, Gainward GeForce GTX 1080 Phoenix, MSI Gaming X etc. You take your pick

so I've been doing some research and looking at photos and all so far I really like this card if anyone has this card let me know how it runs so far. I think that's a ok price for a 1080. I will be getting a HTC vive to go along with it later on.

Any 1080 will work, brands are just personal preference. ASUS customer support has gone to shite and I've had no issues with PNY, MSI, or EVGA in terms of GPUs.

Wow you couldn't have picked a worse time to upgrade to a 4K gaming ready GPU. With AMD new shit coming out in I think June, which changes every thing for both sides for pricing. Especially for the cards your looking at.

so I have been reading if I oc a 1070 it will run like a 1080 stock is that right? i'd rather go on vacation for a weekend then spend the money on a 1080. can anyone tell me the specs of a oc 1070 with each game sittings from low to ultra high?

An overclocked 1070 will handled 4K just fine. You just can't play on Ultra settings with maxed out AA. Well, you don't really need a lot of AA with 4k, that's kind of the point of 4k, and when you're actually playing the games you won't even notice the visual difference between what is possible on a 1080 and a 1070. Yes, you will have to turn down some settings to get playable framerates with a 1070, yes overclocking it will help and get it close to a stock 1080, but you won't notice the visual difference. Unless you just stand still in the games and stare at the walls, you won't notice the difference.

ok I really do like that card so hopefully I wont be disappointed, but it is a good upgrade from a 960. I don't have to have native 4k but it be close 1440p still looks good.
