Looking to upgrade my graphics card

hi, I am looking to upgrade my gpu from gigabyte 7750 2gb to asus gtx 650 ti boost 2gb wondering if this would be, good budget 150-200$
my system currently

i5 3330 3.0 ghz up to 3.2

windows 8 64 bit

8 gb ddr3 ram

ga-b75m-d3h motherboard

550 psu

and would my system be abel to handle the card.

mainly play total war games getting low fps on shogun 2 20-30 sometimes under.

Yes I think so, the GTX 650 TI boost is a great card for the price, makes all the other cards they make look over priced, strange card to release I thought, but anyway. Go with it

if it's 1400x900 the gtx 650 ti boost with 2gb of ram should be more then enough, even if u wanna play games like skyrim which love ram on the gfx...

Yes you will see a major FPS increase over your current card. Compared to even the 7850 there pretty close realy in performance.

For $20 more get the 7850. The 7850 is better value for money.

I think you are confusing between gtx 650 ti and gtx 650 ti boost. It's not the same card.
650 ti boost is not on the chart you added.
It's a slightly cut down version of the gtx 660, and it's supposed to be on par with hd 7850.

However, if the OP intends to overclock, I believe the hd 7850 should be the better card.

If the hd 7850 costs the same and comes bundled with free games - it should be the better deal.

To be fair it wasn't all synthetic. GPU Boss's review had Batman: Arkham City, Crysis Warhead and Battlefield 3. All in favour of the 7850.

I tried to look for another review but I'm struggling to find one which has both cards on the same chart. I agree a game bundle could be the decision maker here because its tight.

Found an xbitlabs with both the 7850 and GTX 650ti Boost on it. It goes back and forth. I didn't have time to analyse it in depth.

Keep in mind there is a GTX 650 ti Boost, a OC'd GTX 650 ti Boost and a vanilla GTX 650ti on the same chart so don't get them confused!

okay, well the 7850 is only by it self doesn't come with any games or anything, same with the gtx 650 boost, the resolution I would like to play at is 1920x1080, don't really play hardware intensive games unless total war ones are but yeh, probably based on value going to get 650 boost but which one would be more of a good investment in the long run, future proof?

Since both of the cards perform similarily, and the hd7850 comes without games and with only 1 gb of memory, I would grab the Gtx 650 ti boost just for the sake of an additional 1gb of memory.

The geforce one also comes with: physx, geforce experience, potentially better drivers and kepler features, like txaa and adaptive vsync.

The hd 7850 comes with full dx 11.1 support and better compute capability, but I understand your system is mainly for gaming, and I believe Nvidia would probably close the directx gap by means of their drivers.

and it is shader-bound so you want your base/boost clock to be as high as possible.

650ti boost seems to be able to handle 1080p quite well.
The card is capable of running the game very smoothly at very high settings.
It is also playable at ultra settings with an average of 34FPS.
I believe you can even take it further, closer to 40FPS if you buy a non-reference gpu and overclock it.

Whether or not the card would be sufficient for a good while is up to you.
If you expect to run it at ultra settings, with all the filters maxed out for the next 2-3 years, then no. No single card is capable of maxing out all the new games at ultra settings.
However, if you have a more realistic approach, and you're willing to lower down some filters, shadows and reflections, I believe you can still get a decent performance and keep the textures at a good quality.

a 7850 runs at 860mhz stock and the average oc on air is 1150mhz that around 33% more speed whereas the 650 ti boost runs at 1072 stock and clocks to around 1200mhz which is only 12% extra speed. So if you plan to overclock the 7850 is the better card but at stock the the 650 ti is better.

After seeing that review I'm leaning towards the 7850 slightly.

In Shogun 2 at the highest resolution it's 29.2 FPS vs 33.9 FPS - Both cards perform virtually the same.

But when you read the entire review the 7850 wins more often and more consistently and by bigger margins. The reviewer actually placed the GTX 650ti boost as slower and trailing the 7850.

The performance of the two cards is close at times, but ultimately the GTX 650 Ti Boost spends most of its time trailing the 7850 to some degree, its only lead being in Battlefield 3. With those BF3 results pushing the cards to within 5% of each other on average, otherwise the gap is closer to 8%. As such the GTX 650 Ti Boost is unquestionably the weaker card in our benchmarks, just not significantly so. So for it to be priced under the 7850 is the right move here.

In any case, as a 7850 competitor the GTX 650 Ti Boost is nothing amazing – its price and performance are close to the 7850, a card that has been sitting at its current price for months now – meaning it fills its intended role as a slightly cheaper, slightly slower 7850 competitor, but nothing more. If we had to pick between the two of them the 7850 does look a bit better due to its slightly higher performance and lower power consumption

chances are since this is so highly clocked it wont last a long time. just like my gts450 oc. cloked to 930mhz from 785, and it just refuses to boot oneday :/

here is my 7790

and the 650 ti boost compared to the 7850. i matched the overclocked speeds of the 650 ti boost. this site uses good algorithm to interpolate the results accurately.

the 7790 is a good choice for the money. much more VFM than the 650 Ti

I'm going to have to disagree with you here.

AnandTech review placed the GTX 650 Ti Boost just behind the 7850. (see post #18)

Techpowerup review shows both the 7850 and Vanilla GTX 650 Ti is more than double the performance as the 7750.

I read it. Just couldn't see the logic behind it.

Granted the 7790 would be a boost over the 7750.

But the 7790 is slower than the vanilla GTX 650 Ti , significantly slower than the GTX 650 Ti Boost and 7850.

The only reason the 7790 would be a better purchase is if the price reflects it, because performance wise it makes no sense over the alternatives.

Now I don't know how much the 7790 is in the OPs country so I can't recommend it until then. But he said the GTX 650 Ti Boost is $200 and 7850 is $220 and he has the money for either one.
