Good evening,
I'm looking for a feedback/help about performances of my R7 3700x.
This issue showed up during a benchmark in game (Shadow of the tomb raider) with lowest settings to test the performance of the CPU.

As you can see from the screen, average fps are 138 and i saw much higher results for users with the 5600x, which should be pretty similar in performance (in this game more cores should led to more performance, so my 3700x should have much more FPS in average, at least in theory).
In the right-bottom corner of the screen you can see the first table column which has subpar results, meanwhile the other 2 columns have regular results.

I did benchmark with the speed test tool of PC UserBenchmark and no issue showed up. So i'm a bit confused :)

My specs are in my user description, but i can tell you fast:
- My GPU is 6700xt FE
- RAMs are in dual channel 3600Mhz
- Docp is enabled
- Apparently CPU isnt throttling (temperatures are around 50-60° during the benchmark and in game)
- CPU is pretty new, bought in later august this year
- during the benchmark I used only OCCT to check the temperatures, no others software.
- base CPU clock is 3.6GHz like should be

Thanks you for your time and help if you want to give some advices or suggestions! Have a nice day :)

To be honest, this is the right time to ask for your cpu cooler and search its dishing(amd ryzen ihs is concave and hence needs mounting pressure during installation for regular straight coldplate coolers), but for brevity you could check pb2 status in ryzen master. Sometimes it is activated, but not tuned right.

To check your CPU performance, first download and run Cinebench 23 and compare with other 3700X owners. If you get lower than expected performance then you need to search more. If not, then simply the 5600X is faster in this game due to perfecting the Zen arch.

No my friend the 5600x is better than the 3700x even in multiple threads.
AMD Ryzen 5 5600X6/123.7 GHz4.6 GHz35 MB
Ryzen 7 3700X8/163.6 / 4.436MB
I used to have the 3800x, here I have it at 4.6GHz, it doesn't go any further and as you can see, the 5600x is already very close to the multiple threads, so it is even more competitive with the 3700x and with oc the 5600x is even faster

tweak ram with dram calculator ,only in synthetic programs you will see different in favor of 3700x

I run Cinebench 23 and these are my results in single and multicores:
single - 1286 pts
multi - 11987 pts
I searched for others 3700x bench comparison and i found this results:

I found others similar results in CPU-monkey site.

in both cases my results are lower, in single core not too much, but the difference in multicore is significant I guess?
Not sure if this mean there is a issue or i'm just overthinking and my CPU is working normally just a little behind the average scores

Switch to the memory tab on cpu-z and get hwinfo64

Not all systems are equal due to variables.

Do not use ryzen master, overclock your processor only in the bios,go to overclock.net you will find a lot of information, pbo and pbo 2 are your friend.

Nothing strange here...majority of games still prefer faster/stronger IPC(single core) then overall multicore performance.....In reality 8 (fast)threads are still enough for gaming 12 threads is plenty especially if they are fast like 5600x....Yeah one more thing 5600X also have more L3 cache(per core) to be precise 5600x and 3700x both of those CPU have 32Mb of L3 but this means that 5600x using more cache per core which is also advantage when it comes to the gaming.....

Hi , are you happen to run windows 11?...

In our testing with pre-release builds of Windows 11, a feature called Virtualization-based Security (VBS) causes performance to drop. VBS is enabled by default after a clean install of Windows 11, but not when upgrading from Windows 10. This means the same system can get different benchmark scores depending on how Windows 11 was installed and whether VBS is enabled or not. We plan to add VBS detection to our benchmarks in a future update to help you compare scores fairly.

Zen 2 processors can not match the newer cpus . ipc between the two plus higher core speeds will leave the older cpus in the dust

Hi, nope i'm running w10!

Well in this case the difference between my 3700x and others 5600x is like 40/50 fps, i mean i think is a bit too much.
Or maybe is ok dunno... Surely is strange (that specific game scale quite well with more cores as i know)

Well in this case the difference between my 3700x and others 5600x is like 40/50 fps, i mean i think is a bit too much.
Or maybe is ok dunno... Surely is strange (that specific game scale quite well with more cores as i know)
50 FPS where in what game and what res?If you doing benchmarking in lower res you should expect that gap in FPS is going to be bigger and bigger........also if game is not demanding like for example CSGO then difference of 50 FPS maybe is not that much when you making overall 400 FPS.....really depends....check other games and benchmarks.....

Zen 2 processors can not match the newer cpus . ipc between the two plus higher core speeds will leave the older cpus in the dust
Yes there are true archicture differences between Zen 1/1.5, 2, and 3 unlike intel's core i revisions (pushing same old shit since Sandybridge)

Resolution is 1080p, Shadow of the tomb raider is the game which depends a lot on the cpu and the settings are to lower possible for the proper CPU test
The gap between 3700x and 5600x should be 10-12% for what i saw, but maybe i'm wrong :(

Hmmm...Ok...SOTR actually using very well multicore CPU`s...I also like to test my CPU/GPU in SOTR game benchmark...there are actual topic in this forum about CPU performance in SOTR I assume that you checked that thread for comparison?

Exactly :) At first i posted my "issue" in that thread, but i didnt want to go off topic so i tryed to post there.
Actually i'm at 145 fps average up to the 138 i posted before, and other benchmarks outside the game are ok, so i guess i have to accept these results and make peace with them :p
