Hey guys, I'm putting together a new build for the first time in a few years and I'd appreciate it if y'all would give it a once-over to make sure I'm not missing anything or way overspending on something.

The budget is around $3k for everything, most performance use will be high refresh rate gaming but it'll be used for school as well. (Coding and video/3D rendering). I will have to use WiFi instead of ethernet, and the more USB ports the better.

PCPartPicker List

The basics are
5800x
MSI b550 Gaming Carbon
TEAM 32GB 3200c16
~RTX 3080/RX 6800XT GPU once reviews are out and stock is in
Corsair RM850x
Fractal Design Meshify 2
Acer XV272U 1440p 170hz

The parts I'm least sure about are the Motherboard and RAM.
I haven't kept up with motherboards and it seems like there are hundreds out there, so if there are better alternatives please let me know. I plan to run the 5800x under a 360mm rad of some sort and manually tune the RAM, so a reasonably high end board seems useful. I also connect everything wired so I'll use at least 6 USB-A ports and it'd be nice to not have to get behind the tower to plug and unplug constantly. The case also has front panel type C 3.2 so I need that header. I wanted the x570 Gaming Edge, but it doesn't have an onboard header. Most mid-range x570 boards are missing one, it sucks.
For RAM the 3200c16 should be fine but I know someone who could use it, so if I have an excuse to go faster would it be worth it with zen 3? 3600c16? 4000c18? I plan to buy after I get the motherboard, so I'll be sure to check the QVL.

I'm also curious about Artic's reputation for aios. It seems better than the NZXT x73 for ~$50 less, but NZXT's warranty is much longer.

Thanks guys, if you have any questions feel free to ask.

if u have the $ get a x570 board. currently using asus rog crosshair vii hero and tbh wish i'd kept the msi mag ace x570 i gave to my son.. its bios is easier than asus and memory oc just worked better. i wouldnt suggest any lower end x570 as the tuf gaming wifi i had was trash. so my top 2 amd mobos for less than $400 #1 MSI MEG ACE #2 Gigabyte Aorus master.. above 400 get the msi godlike all day.

-- look for "used" deals shipped by amazon.. got my asus mobo about 280. non wifi model. another reason i lean to MSI ACE-wifi for same price

I would look into the Gigabyte B550 Aorus Pro AX. It's a refresh of the currently available B550 Aorus Pro AC that adds an internal USB C header among some other improvements. I believe I've heard it should be available starting next week. It also has more USB ports on the rear IO than the B550 Gaming Carbon Wifi as well as being cheaper.

As for RAM, I would look into this Ballistix kit: https://pcpartpicker.com/product/Kk...gb-2-x-16-gb-ddr4-3600-memory-bl2k16g36c16u4b. It's essentially guaranteed to be Micron E-die which is a great IC for overclocking without having to pay through the nose for Samsung B-die.

drm for the win.. the mobo u linked has inferior 12+2 50amp DrMOS mosfet versus the x570 aorus master with aDirect 14 Phases Infineon Digital VRM Solution with PowIRstage.. not sure what that means.. checkout buildzoid on youtube.

The ram is a bit loose timings for the speed but otherwise Ok.

The RAM I got on sale for $80 so I don't have much of an issue with it, but with zen 3 going quicker I'll stay on the lookout for those RAM kits.

I'll be buying the CPU and motherboard from Microcenter in-store, so I should probably keep a list of 3-4 models I like so I can grab one in stock. I'll keep the Aorus Pro AX, Aorus Master, and MEG ACE in mind. I was looking around the $200-$300 mark but going over if it's worth it isn't a problem.

from my personal journey through the mobo ranks i have came to a couple conclusions.
-research alot---watch gamers nexus and buildzoid videos about vrm thermal test results, etc---
-not all bios are created equal. asus is too invasive with os. asrock is ok. msi almost too simple. gigabyte is good all around
-if at any time overclocking is on your mind go big.
-you get what you pay for
-i wish i'd saved $200 and spent the extra $100-200 to start. ((anyone in the market for x570 gaming tuf ;D lol))
imagine my surprize after putting a 3800x, 2080ti, 32gb ram(8x4), and 850w titanium psu on a asus gaming tuf x570 mobo, and my sons 3600x build out performed it on every benchmark with a 2080super. dumbfounded i began to research.. alot lol. it was clearly the mobo. i couldnt even get my ram to run at rated 3600 speed with all 4. same ram 4000 all 4 in the msi board with a lil timing tweaks. so i went ahead and purchased my current board the asus x570 hero.....yada yada..lol its alot better than the gaming tuf. its ram oc still is strange to me but goodish.

just my opinions. take them for what they are.

Please don't buy a Corsair PSU... I got the same 2 years ago and to this day I regret that I didn't buy an equivalent Seasonic Prime.

Ha, PSU is already purchased so it's too late for that.

I was thinking of grabbing a corsair H150i instead of the arctic simply because you can never find the arctic in stock. Would that be a bad idea?
