Holy crap, that smacks of badassedness all over the place!
I gotta say, I was a bit worried at first they were going for a Fallout vibe when I saw the desert scene with Johnny Cash music playing, but by the end of the trailer it looked and felt new and fresh enough, from the wormhole effect to the on planet animations. Modeling looks good too.
Call me hooked so far. I don't care that much that we have to play as humans, though I'm interested to see what aliens will be in it. Hopefully the characters and dialog will live up to the prior titles.
I wonder if Bioware is making a male protagonist with a little more swagger. if you freeze it at the 1 minute mark he has some kind of flap/cover that is undone and of course the music is fitting
would be awesome if Nathan Fillion voiced him
So i guess i need to start saving money. 2016 = new computer.
Assassin's Creed: Andromeda
Seems like Bumblebee's on a role today.
Hells yes. Throw in some Simon Baker for voicing some form of AI and Mads Mikkelsen for the diabolical mastermind and I'd play it for that alone.
Unfortunately with EA all of their RPG-esque titles have all followed the same formula, and I'm just going to go ahead and assume the template used for Dragon Age Inquisition is going to be applied to the ME universe. Throw in a bunch of storyline branches based on 2 conflicting decisions, and ham-fist in a bunch of minigames like building your space-keep and furnishing it, etc.
I'd rather go in with below average expectations and be surprised, at this point.
the music got me... i love that !
the 1:00 mark nailed it indeed....
looks like the Normandy SR3 (totally not the name of the ship i suspect, but call me nostalgic...) will have a cockpit located command center and a fully windowed nose
i'd go with @RCoon thought on the game: not expecting much and be surprised depending how it will turn out.
The main story will be incredible disappointing. Only looking past that will it be a great game. However for somebody immersed in the story it's a complete dead end .
Were ME 3 left off there is almost no where to go:
a) all A.I. is dead and gone. So for anybody that toked this choice Mass Effect 4 can not exit.
b) Reaper have been controlled and now they help us. The only possible outcome were another ME game can exist. I guess they managed to get out of control and now once again they they threaten the entire existence of the Galaxy(Cuz what you see in the trailer looks like a collector base).
Using the reaper intelligence we build the mass relays back and all the alien species return to their homes. Assuming that could even be possible.
The reaper know nothing. The only one that could help was the ONLY living prothean. But in his time ,he was a fighter not a scientist. he knows nothing about building anything (made that very clear in mass effect 3).
c) organic & synthetics combined forming the final stage of dna evolution. There is 0,1% chance that they made another mass effect with that version.
Every independent video game critic on the planet at the end of ME 3 reviewed the ending as the worst possible ever. Why? Cuz their is no where to go after this Unlike Dragon Age ,where you can always make 10 more videogames based on the story so far.
So where are we left? With pretty new graphics and lots of more shooting stuff around. Basically another Crysis game.
Yay more sexxing up aliens.
You do realize Andromeda is a completely different galaxy, right? ME Trilogy was all MilkyWay, so in a new galaxy nothing from the past games restricts what they do.
who said it was a direct sequel on ME trilogy, afaik it's a whole new setup ... (indeed not direct since it's set up waaaaaaaayyyy after the initial trilogy)
in short: it's not Mass Effect 4 (sheppard tale is over now) it's Mass Effect: Andromeda, a episode one on another (probably) serie based on the Mass Effect universe
[edit: better gif]
I'm still waiting for somebody in the AAA scene to make a game where female aliens aren't just human bodies with funky coloured skin and hair. Never understood why people presumed alien females would have boobs in the first place.
As like i never really understood how most see them with big eye's with bold heads, i understand there is a theory but that's it. they could like any thing depending how a world evolved.
Making them more human like just makes them more except-able and lets face it we keep trying to separate our self's from being animals but in the end of the day that's what we are.
Plus it make interstellar sex more easy to except they they looked like us.
I'd completely understand if you wanted female aliens with multiple pairs of boobs ... but, all right, let me try to imagine commander Shepard seducing a squid-like sentient creature of a female gender ... he'd say 'Hello beautiful', she'd reply 'Sqrgrlrllrllwwr', then he'd say 'Only if you promise not to use those tentacles' ... I can totally see your point now
BLASTO! we need moar Hanar companion and ... wait ... tentacle raping?
The theory behind why aliens would be very similar in anatomy to humans is basically evolutionary convergence. As we have a very limited understanding of complex organism, specifically those that aren't very similar to us, it stands to reason that similar environmental influences would produce very similar biological diversity. Two organisms, experiencing roughly the same factors, will favor the same traits. As far as just being green skinned humans, that's a cheap way to reskin a model rather than develop a new one.
As far as this game... meh.
My initial reaction is that they just showed us all the playable planets in the base game, and anything extra will be paid for DLC. Honestly, Bioware pissed away all the good will of their releases (starting with Jade Empire) when they spent the better part of a decade lying to their customers. Yes, they eventually "fixed" the Mass Effect ending. My problem is that all their recent trends lead me to believe that this will be another mediocre game. Mediocrity, with the stink of Origin only, means I'm going to have to pass on this game until it demonstrates that it has to be played.
That's only one of 3 possible endings, Synthesis. There was also destroying them or working for them.
Just the fact that there were 3 different choices that could involve Reapers existing or not though, is justification enough that we'll not see them in ME4.
I'm curious as to what that big hovering squid-like creature was in the trailer. Maybe they saw fit to go with giant cephalopods instead.
Crysis 4 in space anyone? LOL
Oh they'll have to do at least SOME explaining. They're clearly showing N7, so it DOES have some ties to the prior titles.
My guess is they're going with wormhole travel after the Mass Relays were destroyed, and perhaps a small surviving team of humans not necessarily tied to Shepard's group at all.
being non related to the 1st trilogy doesn't mean it has no ties ... humans are still here N7 still does exist (apparently since it's on the armor)
same universe same organization: N7 is generic to human, sheppard was unique to the 1st trilogy.
ME universe ... another story in a vast universe
ME:A is on another, further in the future, timeline: explication found, water has flown under the bridge and a new adventure begin.
i just hope EA will not "FUBAR" that opus (or Bioware ... tho ... dunno they lost a bit of their shine since ... oh well)
tho i can see what you mean, and my own deduction might be wrong .... (at last i hope they will not be wrong ahah )
I suppose it could take place after the predicted collision of Andromeda and the Milky Way. Could explain the N7 decals as being recovered/discovered from the 'new' planets after the galactic merger.
not mandatory ... it could also just be another story where the human still have N7 and they rediscovered mean to go further (in case of the end : "reaper tech gone no more relay" ) but since it will not be a following of the trilogy and the end choice will have little impact (i assume) i prefer to take it as a new story in the same universe: same universe=same reference=same organization=/=same story
Galactic merger? Did I miss that plot point from the trilogy?
he talk about reality i assume ...
