The fact the game only added three new species (remnant, angara, kett) surprises and saddens me
That's fine with me. It is after all, only one star cluster in the huge galaxy. I would not have expected to see multitudes of species all packed up in one dying cluster of stars.

Makes some sense but from a gameplay perspective, I think it was still a bad idea. Game is pretty stale narratively and more species naturally creates more conflict.

To me it felt like they could have done SO much more with the crashed colony ships. Where are all the freaky accidents, the odd encounters between the different races and the dilemmas that puts them in... Even with only a few new races it feels like they could have fleshed out the existing ones so much more. The only place where you see the old racial traits and differences is with your own crew members, and even then, it only really shows in the random comments they make to each other (most of which are nice I gotta say).

...OK, the mod is now installed. The problem was the so called "suite" the mod page links you to only has the editor, and not the mod manager, which is what installs the mod. However despite the mod now showing as installed with the check mark verifying it, when trying to launch ME: A via the mod manager, which is said to be necessary, I get an error box after it tries to load that says "The requested operation requires elevation" (cue U2 LOL).

I have to say I was skeptical about trying this, as I am most mods, because there always seem to be some kind of problems. Can anyone explain what this means? I can only assume that it's maybe because this mod doesn't yet support the latest patch (1.10).

I am afraid, I don't have a solution for you. I am using 1.10 and don't have any issues with it. Sorry :(

I really didn't mind that they recycled the same space craft prefabs in ME because each one had it's own micro-story to tell that kept it interesting. ME:A completely lacks that. Even ME2 and ME3 had mini-missions in most systems that kept up the same formula. ME:A no doubt has more systems than ME/ME2/ME3 did and, at the same time, they're infinitely more bland too because there's really nothing of distinct value to discover.

I am sure that the windows creators update HDR bug was discussed here already but i have an interesting bug with 378.92 driver (last one that ok for hdr, no slider for hdr in windows screen settings). When i use ME:A resolution 2160p with dolby vision everything is ok but when i change the resolution to say 1440p with HDR10 on (only HDR mode with this resolution) and i quit the game, windos desktop is forced HDR suddenly without any setting for desktop HDR available. The screen has really flashy colors and only a restart fixes it.
I have a GTX1080 and would like to play with lower resolution than 2160p because of framerates but it seems to be a pain in the ass to do so with desktop going havoc.

I have a 55sj810v TV as monitor

Is there any chance this game will get the sequel?? I'm curious about the other Arks and how the story evolves with the Kett.

Really the prducers dont get it. Even no mans sky was saved because of massiv updates and the MEA producers abandoned it short after release.

I'm really upset so far how the Arks have been handled.

The only missing ark quest I've been able to pursue so far, the Asari one, ended up with a failed status and I don't even know why. The missing Arks should be a significant enough part of the story that they should each have their own epic unfailable mission. So far it's just been simple investigating with no significant results. In fact I've had more mysterious failed quests results in this installment than any other ME game. Really poor structuring

Seeing how Casey Hudson came back to EA, it's pretty much a guarantee. EA saw how much of a wreck MEA is and their logical conclusion is to bring the original director back to put the franchise back on course. They likely made Hudson an offer he couldn't refuse (hopefully that includes artistic freedom). Depending on how EA approaches development, it will be 2-7 years before it comes out (big team and short time table or small team and extended time table).

Asari is first and I have no idea why you failed it. Maybe you pushed forward with a critical path mission before finding it? The tip comes from Cora.

Turion is second and I think meeting the Turians on Havarel is a prerequisite.

Third is Salarian. I think the Tempests' pilot gives you the info you need to find that one when the critical path progressed enough for it to be available.

There's only one outstanding ark (Quarian/Volus/Elcor). The Quarian captain of the ark sends a warning to the Nexus but no details are provided.

Pretty clear they're going to be an omnipresent menace like Geth were in the Milky Way.

I looked into the HDR bug again and now my desktop is 120Hz 1080p and i set game to 120Hz 1080p HDR10 enabled. When i quit the game my desktop was again forced to HDR (TV shows HDR symbol and picture settings show its really HDR) but this time the HDR colors look right.
So a way to force the desktop to nice HDR without newer Nvidia driver (anyways windows settings forced HDR looks shit)

I missed that. This is the only good ME news Ive heard in awhile. I don't care what anyone says: Without Casey they're lost. The results speak for themselves. He wasn't the only one - their best writers left after ME2 (Drew K, Brian Kindregan, and Chris L'etoille) but Casey had a vision. It'll never be the same wihout those3, but even with the ME3 ending drama they were better off with Hudson steering the ship at least.

OK, just had fun romping around H-047c getting HUGE air off jumps with the Nomad, but am having an annoying little problem after finishing up everything there.

After turning on the tiller in the vault, there's a few optional Remnant consoles on the way out that seem to lead to rooms with possible hidden stashes. Ryder will say "Looks like we need help from an Observer" every time I try to activate one.

The way I got the first one to work that was near the gravity well was just to point at the console with the scanner and hold down the LMB. I'm not sure whether it was activated by the friendly Observer that showed up prior, or my Remnant bot, but it seems it was the friendly Observer, because these ones won't open with the same method.

I've read various chat on this, but it doesn't make sense. Some say there are 4 extra consoles that have to be activated in a certain order. If so, why does Ryder say "looks like we need help from an Observer"? Others say they think this part of the game is unfinished. Anyone know how to open these doors? I figure there must be a console I missed somewhere that makes another Observer pop up.

You're talking the one that's kind of figure 8 shape (effectively 3 long, parallel tunnels) where you go on the right then cross over to the left to reach the end, right? I was stuck there forever trying to find that damn observer too. It is on the left tucked away in one of the corners towards the end, very easy to miss.

The one I'm thinking about, the observer isn't necessary to finish it. It just has some hidden goodies. You do need observers on the right side to progress. There's one of those big bastard Remnant at the end--top dead center of the 8.

OK, finally got to the 4 hidden rooms that have consoles with hovering lights behind them. One has 1 light, another 2, then the others 3 and 4. I activated them in the order I found them, which just happened to be 1,2,3,4. Ryder then said, "Did that even do anything"? I searched a bit more to see if it opened anything and apparently it did because I came across another room of Remnants, including a big armored one, and a couple rooms with goodies in them. Prior mind you I'd searched the whole vault and found no more hostile Remnants or containers.

I saw a couple more consoles that Ryder would again comment "Looks like we need help from an Observer" after scanning them, but no luck opening those. I decided to leave because all the chat I'd read was referring to the rooms with hovering lights being the way to get to the hidden caches.

The Tiller vault, despite having no defensive gas after activating it, has to be the most annoying one I've encountered so far. I also find it kind of off they went out of their way to have a vault this late in the game that supposedly will provide fuel for 300 years, yet the game, unlike the past ones, does not require you to refuel your ship. Not very well thought out if you ask me.

Oh, you were on the right side, I was talking left side. Like I said, on the left side the Observer is hidden in a corner towards the end. It's really easy to miss.

After just having finished this game, I came away feeling it is quite a let down content and creativity wise from past titles. A lot of people talked about it as if it has tons of great quests, but I just don't see it. Most of even the main quests are just quick easy ones, and a LOT of quests are very samey. Add to that the enemies and overall atmosphere being nowhere near as intimidating as past titles, and it's just very disappointing. They even reskinned a lot of creatures and gave them more HP instead of coming up with something new. So basically the giant space gorilla turns blue, then boney.

I had thought at first the more advanced Kett enemies might be daunting, you know, the ones that hover mid air with a shield around them with a rock-like orb circling it that appears to power it, but for the most part they stay put. I have found they can be easily taken out from a distance with a powerful sniper rifle. About the only creatures I enjoyed fighting were the Architects, but even they are only tough first encounter. The Nomad is also fun to drive, especially once you fully upgrade it, but the Architects and Nomad aren't enough to carry the game.

The game does not scale well enough in difficulty. Once you have the powers of yourself and your team buffed well, and get some decent weapons and armor, you're pretty much invincible. I only picked up weapons and armor I found too, and never developed anything with augmentations or special mods either. I had over 130,000 credits and tons of resources by the end of the game that I didn't even need to use.

I remember in ME3, you had to carefully plan how to quickly take out Banshees. They kept you on the move. You also had to plan how to spend your money on the best weapons and armor. This game just feels rushed and sub par on everything. It's probably good they're stepping away from it for a while, because they really need to rethink things.

You're too kind, if you ask me.

It's so bad it almost makes me want to dislike ME 1-3... even though I love them. Like getting a divorce from a woman you loved and you don't even want to remind yourself of good memories.

Pretty much how I felt. I think it would pass as a decent/good game...if it weren't labeled Mass Effect. It took elements from previous games...but didn't take the soul.
