Exactly and if consumers accept these rather liberal "tolerances" then they deserve products of the worst quality.

Having an abnormal fail rate on something is objectively detrimental to consumers. Whether it's a massive problem or not I don't know, but it is a problem nonetheless and one that goes outside typical norms.

I guess that can happen If you make a limited supply of cards, I dare say Nvidia probs knew a $1200 card was not going to be there main cash cow, the supply is a massive "head ache" for Nvidia and supply chain thats it.

Not issue within the gpu it's self ,so no i don't believe for one moment it's a massive problem, they can have money back or wait for replacement whats so massive about that?

Still,I'm happy that the majority of people get what is written in this thread. Some don't, but you can't always get through to all the people.

When choosing a HDD people take HGST over Seagate cause the failure rate is 3% lower, but somehow when it comes to nvidia's $1200 cards,this is supposed to be a a non-issue. What about those who watercooled the card and voided the warranty, then turned out the card died cause it was a bad batch. It this a non-issue for them as well ? Do they NOT have a case to argue ?

If Nvidia was unable to replace cards and unable to refund people for there Broken RTX cards then yes I would agree that would be a Massive problem but it's the context atm

Well, if they admit that their purchase is not so good, that would undermine their ego, because that would imply (in their mind) they made a bad choice. That can never happen in public.
They will fight nVidia for that $1000 loss quietly, while posting here that there are no issues.

Meanwhile, grown-ups know that sometimes you will buy a bad apple and... that's life. That fact doesn't reflect on your intellectual capacity of making the choice.

my own palit 2080ti card after 10 days of thrashing is not showing any problems..

There have been a lot of interesting and valid perspectives expressed and many problems highlighted in this thread. So just be cool.

The reality is that there are a number of defective cards out there, seemingly most of them from NVidia themselves. How many problem cards there are and how big the problem is might be open for debate.

And seems to be echoed stateside. There have been no retailers chiming in saying they are having a high volume of returns. So it would seem this is a situation where there have been some very, understandably, disappointed users expressing that disappointment publicly and it getting blown out of proportion.

the only snag being that both nvidia and partner retailers have good reasons not to be entirely honest as of yet.. time will provide some more answers..

most of the partner 2080ti cards dont seem to be readily available ether.. in the UK the only ones that are readily available seem to be the Palit offerings..

i honestly dont think these things have sold in very large numbers..

More than likely 3080, not 3070. The 1070 being better than a 980Ti was an aberration in the grand scheme of things, so stop counting on it.

The pattern seems very intermittent. It's not as big as it may seem, but still it's an abnormal situation. The return rate must be at least several times higher than usual,or maybe even more.This whole RTX launch is a mess.The prices,the availability and now this. I think these cards will actually turn out to be very good products,but the early days will better be forgotten.

I was thinking about picking one up. 7 pages is quite a lot. I do see that NVidia is saying that their isn’t a serious issue (damage control?) what about AIB? If I chose not to get NVidia vanilla do those cards have less reports?
