Hey guys, so basically I bought this watercooler from Cooler Master, a "Masterliquid ML360L V2 ARGB", but after about 2 or 3 weeks it started making this really loud noise, and I don't know what to do. I've contacted the RMA from Cooler Master, but I'm afraid my cooler stop working, and due the fact that I don't have more than one, I won't be able to use my PC, so do you guys have any suggestion of what to do? I didn't put my PC specs, because I dont think its necessary, but if you guys want any information just ask me. Oh, and btw my case it's a Macube 550. I will put 2 videos that show 2 different noises. And I don't if it is a manufacturing defects, but I really doubt this is something normal.

It sounds like theres a big air bubble where the pump is.

Power the PC on and rock it back and forth and tip it side to side a few times.... Shake it if you even need to but remove the hard drives first before you do that.

Alternatively you can take the cooler out plug it into a hotwired power supply and then give the cooler a shake while its powered on to try and dislodge the air bubble.

Alternatively again. rather than mount the radiator where you have. change it and hold it at the top of your case horizontally like this...

Just hold the radiator at the top and power on the PC and see what happens.

If all this fails then its time to RMA the cooler.

Okay I will try this first tips, but the last one I can't. I can't mount it at the top cause I don't have space for that, but I will try.

No need to mount it - just hold it. You have no where to mount it anyway. not with a Macube 310

That's true. Okay, I will try that later, but if it doesn't work do I have to RMA the cooler?

With a Dremel tool there's no such thing as can't. Here's an Arctic Liquid Freezer II 360 externally mounted on a NZXT H440. It wouldn't fit inside the case otherwise, especially with 6 120mm fans in push/pull.

Yeah, but I don't think the problem is the position. He told to put it or hold it at the top just to test. I think actually, I'm not sure...

Basically. In most situations, you'll want the radiator to be above the pump because thats just how gravity works. air bubbles go up, water comes down. with custom set ups, the pump is more powerful so it tends to happen less frequently but the pumps in AIOs arent that powerful to begin with given the compact size.

With the way you've positioned your AIO, Im guessing its an air bubble because my H105 used to get noisy like that too when i placed the radiator incorrectly.

The hoses on the radiator are already higher than the pump so air should accumulate there if there is any in the system.
With the system upright and running tilt the case towards the rear, if there is any air trapped in the pump, which I doubt, the noise should decrease or stop.
It may just be a faulty CoolerMaster fan which are known to fail.
Lightly press your finger on the hub of the spinning fan to see if this helps.

And just shaking it or moving right and left might solve it?

Okay I will try. Some friends said that this noise might be something related to an obstruction, but I really doubt, cause this problem starts right after I turn on my PC, but stops about 10 minutes after that. I will try to use the tip to shake it, and move to right and left, as well as "Lightly press your finger on the hub of the spinning fan"

dead pump and/or air bubble
i have a video of me ripping apart an old TT AIO with this exact issue and showing where the problem was

You need to tilt the pump while its running so the pump is *low* and the hoses/radiator are high - this lets the air bubble move out into the rad, safely. Hose and AIO location can prevent it returning. For an example it took 3 days of 24/7 running for air to leave the rads in my custom loop and accumulate in the reservoir, which means it can take the same amount of time to creep back with an AIO.

(Correct placement is having ANYTHING higher than the pump, be it hoses or rad)

New information.

In this case i would just RMA. You never stated that the noise goes away after 10mins in the original post so clearly air stuck in the pump isnt the issue. Rocking/shaking/tiling the computer while its on probably wont work.

Hmm alright. I sent an e-mail to CM support and I'm waiting for them to send me an answer. But I will need another cooler master to use while mine is gone. The higher noise on the second video, started for the first time yesterday, two times after turning on the PC, and the first one is constantly happening, but due the fact the is a little bit lower and I wasn't so worried about it, but the second one really scared me.

numnumnum AIO's are fun

In this case it had gunk instead of air, but it got stuck in the rotating impeller here

In your case its likely air and not congealed gunk, but if you dont get it sorted with remounting it or replacing it fast, it'll die and sound like this

Damn, how old is this one? Yeah basically I'm trying to replace it, just waiting for Cooler Master to give me an answer of what to do. Probably I will send mine and they will send a new one, or they will give me a solution of how to fix it

With a Dremel tool there's no such thing as can't. Here's an Arctic Liquid Freezer II 360 externally mounted on a NZXT H440. It wouldn't fit inside the case otherwise, especially with 6 120mm fans in push/pull.
"If it don't fit, you must aquit"

Not if you have a dremel, which is my go to tool for modding practically anything nowadays :D

consider a 'Liquid Freezer II - 420 RGB' from Arctic Cooling. Its a better product in general.

RMA your coolermaster then sell it when they send back a replacement

consider a 'Liquid Freezer II - 420 RGB' from Arctic Cooling. Its a better product in general.

RMA your coolermaster then sell it when they send back a replacement
Yeah I'll probably do that, but I was thinking about buying a NZXT X73, is it bad?

Damn, how old is this one? Yeah basically I'm trying to replace it, just waiting for Cooler Master to give me an answer of what to do. Probably I will send mine and they will send a new one, or they will give me a solution of how to fix it
no idea, it was found at the tip with a 'dead' PC i repaired every single part from, except that AIO and the burned out husk of a CPU underneath it

just buy a decent air cooler...
peace of mind, no leaks, cheaper, less noisy and the difference between 60 and 62°C is completely irrelevant.

Well I used to have a Corsair H105, but my temperature was to high, so I decided to buy a 360mm, and then I started getting this problem, so now I thinking that maybe if they replace mine for a new one, I will try to sell it and buy NZXT X73 from a friend

Yes, we are at that stage for CPUs.

For GPU's tho, i had a 40-60C drop (GPU/VRAM) and thats a whole different level of "is it worth it"

Make sure you dont get an AIO that requires software to control it, NZXT corsair and TT are shit for that - all of a sudden with a software update you're screwed and the coolers useless (and you need CPU intensive software always running for their USB controlled lights/effects)

Thats not a bad product but i find it hard to recommend NZXTs products going further due to the way they handled a critical problem where one of their PC cases were starting fires.

Its up to you if you want to buy them but their CAM software used to control it is absolute garbage.

well watercooling a GPU is basically having a giant monoblock over the whole motherboard that cools everything.

but a CPU... AIOs are at best on par with something like an NH D15 or barely better at a much higher noise level.
the Software (like icue or cam) is awful and has tons of bugs.

and on my 5950X my NH D15 performs a lot better than my X73 at 100% Pump Speed. (btw. the pump in the X73 died after a few weeks)
