Hard drive manufacturer Maxtor recently announced its next hard drive generation.
The new hard disks will have a capacity up to 500GB, as well as some new interesting features.
There will be for example improvements in the two important areas performance and data security. In addition, the new hard drives will able to detect to AV streams, probably a technology to speed up audio and video editing.

The Maxtor 500GB hard drives will be available for SATA 300 and ATA 133, the whole 3.5-inch 7200RPM product line will be covered. Shipping will begin Q3 2005.
