I'm sure I will piss off another AMD warrior, but I think the concensous is NVIDIA have always provided a better VR experience.

Shop around, but I found this for what it is worth:

Those frametime differences are pretty serious. Interesting gap, nice find

For this type of use case the smart if not practical way to do it would be to buy a card from each vendor in the general price/performance range try both and then send back whatever one is inferior.

I don't like (7000) reviews that use Intel without using the latest CPUs AMD offers as there seems to be a real benefit to pairing 7000 GPUs with 7000 CPUs. As much as we may seem to be whelmed from the narrative AMD GPUs work better with AMD CPUs and every Game uses at least 2GB more VRAM going from 5000 to 7000 but never hits the limit in terms of total VRAM. That 5+ GHz clock on AM5 is real.

In terms of VR I really feel that PS has the best example and the introduction of Facebook (Meta) subscription was the most selfish thing I have seen in the space of Open source driving development. If not for that I feel that at least 1/3 of the potential participants did not get into VR because of that (40-50 olds) and we are the ones that have the money to do it too. Even if it' your daughter's Xmas or Birthday Present. I love the fact that my 6 year old has a 5600 based system with a 5600XT and Games like ALBA or Lego star wars (That game is crazy good in a disturbing way) are cool but Humble Choice means my Daughter always will have something to play with Daddy.

When we see a $299 (CAD) compelling headset it might work but I can't speak to Nvidia but the 7900 series is fine in my opinion for the current best VR headsets. Unless they are running dual 4K screens or something like that.

Whaa? AMD GPUs don't work "better" with AMD CPUs. It is just based on perf of the current generation. If for say the Ryzen 5800X3D beat a Intel 13600K, that would be just because of perf. It doesn't btw. The 7800X3D does indeed gives the best gaming perf currently. Give it another year and Intel or even AMD will beat it. So saying AMD with AMD is "the best" is only reverent to specific CPUs.
