Total benefit for me, as a item not sent back is extra parts for the replacement when some thing does go wrong as nothings made to last for ever any more.

I bet the costs a lot lower than them actually having to pay for the dumping of the crap, company's don't make shit to last it's bad no money in it.

But for them to say keep the item we send you a new one means i save $10-$20 not to have to wait a week+ for a new item and gives me the chance of when the warranty actually runs out fixing it further more saving me money.

EDIT:
Well i wish Razer and ROCCAT let me keep all the keyboards i have had to sent back due to bad LED(s) and failing Cherry keys as to me that be a $140 saving.
You're forgetting that they can resell the refurbished item.

I personally don't get the Logitech hate - their UK support has been fantastic and I've been using their keyboards and mice for many years now with no complaints (plus their speakers and wireless headset).

Currently typing this on my G910 and using my G700s mouse which are both pretty damned good. Not sure this "new Logitech" will be actually changing much which is fine by me.

Just bring back the G9 mouse and make a new G9 Wireless mouse

:) Still have 1 x brand new (untouched) sitting in my closet. Haven't found the heart to break it in.

Didn't Arctic Cooling (known for their CPU coolers and thermal paste, e.g. Arctic Silver 5 and the MX series) make a similar step years ago? Now it's called "Arctic". Is Arctic doing well now (at least better than before when they are called Arctic Cooling)?

Anyway, I have had many Logitech mice (my very first "gaming" mouse was Logitech Mouseman Dual Optical). My MX510 mouse is still working; I can not say that about my G5 and G500. I am now using a G602 and I love it.

So when is Creative Labs going to make a similar move, and becomes "Creative"? Yeah, I know Creative Labs has ever released videocards too in the past (Nvidia TNT, 3DLabs, 3DFX Voodoo etc.).

I have had this bad run in Logitechs after sales division(outsourced to rptech) for last 10 years. Also in order to get service unless the staff was threatned they took no action and on average turn around time for returned product was only 2months. Over that 10 year time frame every single Logitech product I purchased has failed miserably within a year of purchase. Even after ages of complaining to staff at logitech india, they never did anything to repair the service situation. I forgot to add they also use hazardous materials in their products which endanger users health. I have seen earpads on Logitech headsets(even once kept on display) who had serious fungal growth.

I see you for months now, replying to every Logitech post, talking negatively about their products because of your bad experience with the Logitech support back in India... and you haunt the forums ever since. Seriously? Chill dude, get over with it and go on living your life you know...
Logitech support here in Europe is awesome, they keep replacing any of their products that me and my friends are using, even in the Net-Cafe i work, we work with Logitech gear only, because of their durability. Never had a case of a Logitech product not working within the first year. They just refuse to die. And when they do, i get my money back.

I don't mind referbs as long as they work, many company's use referbs ( or at least say you could get one ) just means the item as gone though yet another check.

How long ago was that? Logitech's quality in both hardware and customer service has not just taken a dive, but literally fell off the chart from my point of view. I avoid them like a plague now and no amount of rebranding is going to change that.

a couple years ago Logitech was sending out Free G500 to anybody who had a dead G5. all they wanted was the PID number on the bottom.

Used Logitech for about 16yrs now. Mice have always been rock solid. Still have old MX500 and 518 that work. They look ugly after being used so much but they work. Using a G602 and a G510s right now too.
Both are great devices that do everything I want and do it better than their competitors.

However, quality of the builds does feel cheaper. I can tell they've cheapened on plastics for sure. I've also gotten other Logitech products over the years. Some of their street headphones from a discount store. It was very clear why they stopped making them. The headphone itself was great and had good sound quality, but the cable was utter crap. I've never seen a more flimsy audio cable. Actually broke two of them within short time before I finally said no more and got some Koss from Amazon.

Good steering wheels are long gone at more affordable prices, till this day although not as much but still kick my self for taking mine back when they had a steel shaft and nut. They changed this a long time ago started to use plastic nuts then the shaft went plastic.

What i should of done was to get a split washer and that white tape for copper pipes so it would stay tight but o well haha.

I don't recall ever owning or even using Logitech stuff so I can't comment at all, but I am surprised at all the hate that I'm reading.

And I thought only Razer was on hated this much :D

Well my exp with their support was great. Had an issue with the mouse slowdown movement on the g700 when the compie woke up and they sent me a 700s with no need to send the 700 back

Also the same with some ue320s when the left driver unit went quieter
Actually got two free sets.

First of all, Arctic doesn't make Arctic Silver 5, Arctic Silver does (similar sounding company, but completely different). Second, Arctic Cooling became Arctic because the company as a whole doesn't only do cooling products.

Here's a bunch of videos about products from Arctic that aren't cooling related:

Whether dropping the "Cooling" from their name did any good is anyones guess, but there was a good reason for it.

Speak for yourself as we have not all had a bad time with logitech, infact they was rather happy to send me a new mouse free of charge even though i could not privide proof of perchase for the G500 that failed.

Same situation here... we were even sent the newer model! We have two G500s mice, one's laser failed, now I'm thinking of just hitting mine with a hammer to get a new one, lol... no, i like my mouse.

I'm finding my G500 is even more of a tank and solid than my venerable MX-518 is (which is still perfectly operating, btw since 2007). Very very pleased that they continue to not disappoint me. The G500 really has become my favorite mouse of all time.

My G700 was abused throughly. It's fell on hard floors several times, got beat up by my brother's dog when I was at thier place (she pawed it off the coffee table and off my laptop 5x when I was there) and has been beat around in a laptop bag and suitcase for a few trips. Still works great.

You might want to check the overwhelming number satisfied with Logitech quality and you'll find your view is the extreme minority. Had you read through the thread you'd know that. Thus, there is no reason to accept your statement that their quality is rubbish.

It's just in general a very bad practice to generalize a manufacturer and paint all their products with a very broad brush.
