I'm in need of some help here,

As of about 15 minutes ago I was watching netflix and got a random BSOD and crash. :banghead: All I could catch from the screen was that it said something about the memory in the big title line. I've never had to deal with this sort of thing before and I guess I have two problems, first how do I find the code for the BSOD which I'm guessing is needed to figure out what is wrong and second what does that code mean. I think the memory might be defective but that's more of a hunch than anything else.

Edit: I also just noticed that windows is only detecting 4gb of the 6gb of memory I have in the system, seems to be related but I have no idea what it means

try by increasing qpi/dram voltage, whats your current setting (v)?

It's at 1.65v which is what it's rated at, and I already have it running slightly slower than 1600mhz as a result of overclocking the CPU, it's like 1520 or something like that.

nah, thats your RAM voltage, in bios look for qpi/dram or uclck or uncore voltage

Right, it's set at 1.4v I think and uncore voltage is on auto

So you think it's a memory stability problem? Only thing is what I'm running the sticks at now is below what they are rated for.

Under system property, advanced, system start up and recovery setting. Uncheck automatic restart. This will make it stop on the BSOD. Google the code or write it in here. Also check you event log

It may very well be your memory. Have you run memtest?

Thanks I'll give it a shot, I hope I can make it repeat the crash.

qpi/dram voltage is related to the CPU IMC also, overclocking the cpu may well make the memory unstable unless you up the qpi/dram voltage also.

what is your uncore speed set to?

Exactly twice the memory speed, a little over 3000mhz. Don't have the exact value on hand\

Edit: Okay so I went and found the bluescreen code 0x0000001a which came back as a significant memory management error. I will be running memtest later once I get all the relevant info I need out of my bios.

Edit 2: ram frequency = 1503MHz; uncore = 3007MHz; QPI = auto; dram bus voltage = 1.65v; QPI/dram voltage = 1.4v I also checked the timings and they are set at 9-9-9-24-1N which I believe is what the sticks are rated for. Memtest is up next

well your settings look ok for the memory, what about cpu voltage, you say its overclocked and again if the IMC isn't brilliant, memory may fail, you may need a touch more voltage - what are your current setting for cpu?

Cpu voltage is 1.2v running at 3.6GHz with a dynamic multiplier but constant voltage.

Memtest came back with 28 errors spread over two addresses in 7 and a half passes overnight. 00104a66df8 (4170.3 MB) and 00046465364 (1124.3 MB) are these on the same memory stick?

Not yet, I'm currently checking each memory stick individually with memtest after all those errors came up. When I did the overclock it was prime95 stable, linx stable and gaming stable for hours on end.

Found a bad memory stick with memtest. Going to RMA them back to Corsair and get replacements. Thanks for the help!
