Deep Silver and 4A Games have announced (Like a week or 2 ago) that they are releasing Metro 2033 and Last Light Redux editions. Pretty much porting and remaster the games on the newest version of the 4A engine, and for new gen consoles (PS4 and Xbox One). Metro 2033 will now get all the lighting, particle, and weather effects that Last Light had.

Some might not be as thrilled as I am about this, but Metro is very high on my favorites list. Love the story line, gameplay, etc.

Release Date: August 26, 2014

Annoucement Trailer:

Some GameSpot chick talking about what will be different with 2033 Redux vs. Original

Sorry, but I'm not getting why Last Light is part of this? Doesn't it already have all that (PC version). Isn't LL just being put on next gen consoles now? Is there any real benefit to getting the redux version of LL on PC?

Meh, this game is a benchmark that you can play. I tend to lose interest after about 5 minutes of playing.

Well, it's probably not for everyone, but I personally find them both a refreshing change of pace from everything else out there. Last Light in particular, esp with all it's DLC, was quite entertaining and had good replay value.

I feel the Metro series are games that are truly more than just eye candy. The visceral nature of the gameplay and the originality cannot be denied. It's even quite a departure from STALKER.

Redux of Last Light comes with all the DLC and Ranger Mode included. I am also curious what else comes with Last Light redux on PC, because Last Light was made with the most recent 4A Engine, but maybe since then, they updated it again.

I enjoyed the game for a little bit, but it was a bit too structured for me. All it really did was give me two hours of a growing itch to get S.T.A.L.K.E.R. back out.

So I did :)

Still, the game looked pretty sharp as it was. It's kind of annoying to me: looks more like a money grab than an actual attempt to provide a better product. If they wanted to make the game better, they'd release it to mod for people like the group that did Complete, Misery, or Oblivion Lost. From this point of view, it's just money. Which they're not getting of mine :)

I would get LL Redux if it was more ilke $5 for those who already own LL, solely so I could play it as 2033. I prefer 2033's pace and feel over LL, LL simplified things a bit too much. My favorite part of 2033 was the detail, throw a knife at a guy, if he's armored the knife might bounce off him if you don't aim right. LL was a one hit kill no matter what.

I may picked up 2033 Redux, but I think even the 50% discount for owners of 2033 isn't enough since it's still $15....

I got metro 2033 and last light separately in two seperate sales where it was around $5 a piece so its possible you can get it for even cheaper than $15.

I meant the Redux versions are 15$ a piece if you already own the base games, at 50% off.

They are $12.49 but yes.

Either way I am buying both Redux.

TAKE MY MONEY. Love the series.

2033 graphics were fine. A remastered version won't change much (might be better performance though?).

Rather they should made some fresh DLC for 2033 and maybe Last Light.

The improvements seem more geared towards the consoles, where I gather they will the see the biggest improvement gap.

I preferred 2033's gameplay to LL's. 2033 just felt more slow paced and....better? LL went a bit too arcadey. I'm hoping updating the engine hasn't ruined 2033's original feel. I hope that "original" mode they're adding to LL is exactly like OG 2033.

Yes, I get that impression as well - good way to make extra money off 2033.

I preferred 2033's gameplay to LL's. 2033 just felt more slow paced and....better? LL went a bit too arcadey.
I was thinking that earlier. I remember distinctly one part in 2033, where you got caught up in a narrow room with about three or four human enemies. It was very dark of course, but it was deathly quiet, then bullets would fly and it would go quiet again. There was another similar instance where you were across an open area/gap on platforms and enemies on the other side. Bullets would fly back and forth in the dark then it would go quiet for a while.

Both scenarios were awesome. They felt appropriately paced, dramatic, realistic, atmospheric, engaging.. like real fire fight. It was very refreshing in contrast to the single player campaigns in CoD and Battlefield, where AI totally ignore the fear of death and run right at you or around you and gun you down.

Thus a DLC series for 2033 would be my vote, content>graphics.

Well so, Playstation fans never got Metro 2033, they only got Last Light, so this is a nice thing for players who have a PS4, and never played 2033, but had Last Light on your PS3.

Supposively there will be better AI now too.

I thought 2033's AI was pretty decent, maybe a bit too skittish, but I never had any complaints while playing.

More real player animations too. Not just better knife animations.

I enjoyed 2033 very much. I'm debating getting Last Light complete now since it's on a steam sale for $9.99. I just don't know if I'll have time to play it with SC coming.

Its about 15 hours to beat. The AI and gunfights are way better in Last Light, plot is equivalent in depth to 2033 so you will probably like LL. I played them back to back.

Lol, I've been playing through last light for wayyy more than 15 hours. I'm doing stealth and not killing any humans, first time I've ever tried to play a game non lethal. Takes so much longer

I'm definitely getting the redux
