Metro 2033 more demanding than Crysis in terms of performance?

If something half as detailed and hi-res as crysis and it slams the videocard more than crysis i consider this bad game code.

I would say it is more demanding on max settings than Crysis is on max settings. However, max settings for Metro 2033 looks better than Crysis also, and uses more features(DX11), so that isn't surprising.

However, with reasonable settings, that provide a similar visual experience to Crysis, I would say Metro 2033 is actually less demanding.

If games would be independed from DX , well , DX new versions tend to be "built for performance on better graphics level" , in reality the features just add up to the graphics , there's no performance increase with each higher DX at all. Why games don't have their own DX? their own drivers and software from low-level and up , too expensive?

There is a huge difference from High to Very High. Very High look stunning but got me only 15-30 FPS

On High it still looked good and I got a huge performance gain to 40-75. DX9 gave me like 10 more FPS overall.

We Shouldn't be comparing to Crysis we should be comparing it to its brother engine the Xray Engine. It looks better than it and is more optimized considering it uses more than one core.

Yeah, try running Metro 2033 at MSAA/AF16 VERY HIGH DX11 and see if the 5850 can handle that. Dude this game is giving my card a run for its money and i got my card overclocked to 950/1150 using 10.3a Preview drivers.

Yeah thats why its a 5850 trying to do tasks meant for a 5870. I'd be happy just to run it in DX11 lol. I don't need MSAA, games AA isn't that bad to begin with.

I just read on a overclockers forum, this guy had a i7 950 @ 4.3 ghz and an overclocked 5970, he was playing on dx 11 with tesselation on, and he was having fps less than 15!

He was running 1920 by 1200, and all else that he said was that everything was MAXED out, DX 11 with tesselation on.

im running 2x 5850's oced with these settings, and i run from 45-55fps

But, check your resolution and he was in dx11 mode, with tesselation and at 1920 by 1200.

Sorry, I finally saw that you were in dx 11 as well, but his resolution was higher. Still, he might be having issues as well.

i resolution change that minor with a 5970 would not drop your frames by 40fps

Yeah, I don't doubt that at all . . . and (for the moment) I have to take other's word for it, seeing as how I still don't have DX11 hardware - that'll change, whenever I can get my hands on two identicle 5970s (at this rate, I might be waiting for the 6000 series :ohwell:

Either way, I can at least say in the DX10 department, it's not that heavy - my artillery have no problem tearing this game up . . . but I don't think the game supports DX10.1, either (which is odd, considering it supports DX11).

I'll be getting Metro later on this week.

I'll test it out with my 5970 @ stock, dx11 with tesselation on and see what fps I get... I'll post results in this thread.

Keep in mind I don't have an i7 @ 4.3Ghz though, only an E8400 @ 4 Ghz :ohwell:
