Micro SD Card Issue

Seems to be a bit of trend of late with issues with SD cards for me...

Was in the middle of backing up my Mum's phone Saturday and all of a sudden the copy failed, crashed and well nothing was working. The 'drive' went from the list in My Computer and whenever I've tried looking at it again, the PC doesn't even see the card being plugged in.
Tried it with my P10 and it seems to see the card in there but when trying to format it, it just came up with an error and did nothing afterwards (rather helpful as always) The error was :-

command '7413 volume partition disk:179:0 public' failed with '400 7413 Command failed'

I've tried a few apps from the Play Store and none helped whatsoever. I still have been unable to view the card unless it's in the phone and even then it won't format it.. So i'm guessing, dead card no good at all?

RMA the card. I find the worst offenders in terms of unreliability are SanDisk MicroSD cards while Samsung, Kingston and Toshiba tend to fair a lot better.

At the same time the retail channels are awash with fake memory cards, even from amazon and being sold by them directly.

It really depends on the brand of the SD Card. Also depends on *Where you buy it from. On eBay can be a Mixed bag and on Amazon well just look at the Recent reviews rather than the Default *Most helpful or whatever it is :slap:

I bought or say my Friend which I Linked a 32GB card which I was buying for testing purposes but after I built a Windows 10 GO on to it and after the first two boots it failed to boot any more. I tried many ways to format but after formatting it still was with Windows 10 GO Edition

So my Friend bought a SanDisk and also worked now

It was a 8Gb Sandisk, older thing as my Mum doesn't tend to take a lot of photos etc, so it doesn't need to be 32Gb or bigger really.

I've had Samsung mSD's fail on me and so fair the Sandisk's I've bought have been great. Touch wood...

Tried the card in the phone but doesn't work that way either.. It's a real pain in the arse... I'm going to install DS File on it so it'll connect to my Synology and I can just upload whatever is there regardless

I'll give the suggestions a go guys, but thank you all for the help and replies
