Microsoft was under pressure from the European commission to revise Windows Vista to meet strict anti-trust laws. Microsoft yesterday released an impressive 100 technical documents, totaling 8,500 pages. This meets the anti-trust laws by giving manufacturers the very deepest components of Vista, which will allow them to create better programs. The European Commission will review the 100 documents, a process that they expect to take months. If Microsoft fails the scrutinizing inspection of the European Commission, they could face a fine of almost $3.9 million a day.

LOL thats nothing to microsoft, bill gates goes to sleep at night and wakes up $5million richer, so it'll be a little less than he hopes, but cant microsoft just say to the european commission, sod it we'll keep vista to ourselves, all your manufactures can go to hell? ok it would mean that they lose out on sales, but do they have the power to do that?

Nah, they couldn't do that. The courts would eat Bill Gates alive, there would be no sales of Vista to Europe, and then linux/OS X 10 would gain some serious popularity. And then the stock would fall, and MS would be dead in the water. In short, they know better then to do that ;).

Are these documents now in the public domain? Or do we have to wait months until the EU has accepted these documents as being sufficient for competitor developers?

And during the wait?

Screw Europe, I thought the bullshit lawsuits in America were bad, but some of the crap the EU has pulled with Microsoft is down right retarded. Something tells me Apple doesn't have these types of problems. I don't think the EU said shit about them bundling iTunes with their OS.

Now THAT is quite a thought. Withholding one of the few exports the US has that other countries want or need.

I wonder what the EUC would do if MS decided that Vista wasn't for anyone but the US? How much of their worthless salaries are paid by companies like MS, for their shite services?
