Microsoft Word 2007 TOC

Hi all,

I want to add a table of contents onto my report. I've managed to work out how to do it but at the moment, it's duplicating page headers.

For example...

Introduction
1.1 - The current problem
1.2 - The solution

Introduction
1.3 - The aims

How can I stop it from repeating the Introduction header, even though it's on a separate page?

The only way I can think of doing it is by adding a creating a different style - but that seems really long winded.

Hmm odd. I just looked into Word 2010 and can not recreate the same problem.

Any option to modify the table?

Can't see any obvious.

I've edited the style "header" - then added TOC.

The only way around it I see is to remove the duplication "Introduction" headers on each of the pages

I suppose it's not an necessity. Just make it look a bit more professional.

I would disagree with you there, but if you really wanted to have the header on every page, you could just make a manual contents page when you are finished, using one of the given templates. It wouldn't take that long.

I assume your using the built in Table of Contents builder...

Have you tried Updating Table? Or is that in 2010?

Am using 2007 - And update table is what is causing the duplications.

It seems reasonable that it would duplicate it as I have in fact duplicated the headers. Just wasn't sure if there was an option I could tick that removes duplicates.

I might scrap the whole TOC anyway - It seems to be crashing Word quite often !
