Isn't that like the worst, most over-hyped game ever?
LAME! And I don't mean the codec.
Yes and said to be the game that almost killed the game industry.
And it will be ripped onto pirate sites within hours...
Meh, if they can't be bothered to bring it to a platform I want to watch it on then it isn't worth my time.
This is the game that was so infamously bad, it's unsold copies were actually quite literally burried by Atari.
A piece of gaming history in it's own right... It would put that truckers game (name escapes me) to shame in how bad it was.
Big Rigs: Over the Road Racing
I think they're equally bad. Both are unplayable pieces of crap. The only difference is that Atari literally buried their game where no such thing happened to Big Rigs.
I remember so vividly receiving that game as a present from my uncle one Christmas in the early 80s, he must've found it in the clearance bin for $5 or less, it was the most frustrating piece of shit I had ever played, I remember asking my dad (who used to play Pacman, Robotron and Empire Strikes Back with me for hours on our 2600) to help me escape the freaking pits.
We both got so fed up that he told me my copy of the game was probably broken, and would get me a new copy (I was like 6 or 7 at the time, and ET was all the rage back then) He probably found a copy in the same discount bin and brought it home one night, we both sat in front of this huge CRT TV anxiously waiting to start the game and evade the evil government agents while looking for the phone pieces and Elliot as the colorful manual explained, the first time ET fell in a pit and we tried unsuccessfully to escape it (just like in my first copy) my father turned off the Atari in disgust and asked me not to play that game anymore.
He avoided playing video games with me whenever he could after that, the next Christmas my Atari 2600 was seating behind our betamax gathering dust, it wouldn't be until 1989 before I finally convinced my father to buy me an NES, thanks for almost ruining my entire gamer life Atari! Those cartridges are the spawn of the devil and deserved to be left buried if you ask my dad!
Can't be Euro Truck Simulator, that rocks. At least number 2.
That's the one. And pretty much the reason this one wins is by legend and age, yes.
damn 1989 was when i was born, glad i missed that one!
I remember that my cousin got this game when it was released. I was really jealous but I was also only 12 years old
Youtube within minutes
Big rigs is best game evar.
Aware of that game, did a report on "unauthorized" Atari cartridges and it was the star actually. It can't compete here because sadly, the game play is reasonably good, despite the... theme.
Bumping because the developer of the game commented on ET making a come back as the "worst video game ever":
His explanation for why it had so many issues: it was produced in five weeks.
5 weeks. 5 weeks.
Look at so many of todays AAA games with hundreds of staff and millions in budget taking years to make. Cue ungari....
lol, 5 weeks.
I did a Java game in 5 weeks once.
It was Pong.
I got a C. They complained it was not "flashy enough."
My explanation was different from his:
I said. "It's retro."
I should've said "5 weeks."
@natr0n I can't see the pic in your op. Is it visible for you?
Ironically, it's rubbish games like this which eventually become collector's items due to their notoriety and rarity.
Click the neowin link below the missing image. The missing image is from neowin.
It's in the link just 3 surreal pics really. I cant edit OP sadly.
