Just sort of curious like, I guess I don't quite get it but why does at least most of the media think Microsoft did the best? Not trying to be like a Sony fanboy but, all I saw was Backwards Compatibility which, I don't get why that is the biggest deal in the world. I mean I guess we all do just sort of throw old consoles directly into the trash can when we upgrade or are too lazy to plug them in to the second HDMI or a switch box.

Otherwise all I really saw was Gears of War HD which was, predicted a few weeks ago and from the looks of it it's legitimately just a port as it didn't look any better than running it natively on PC for the past like eight years now. Halo 5 which looks alright and all, but it just looks like more of Halo 4 (Not a terrible thing.). Forza which I've never been a fan of, if I wanted to play that type of game I'd honestly just play Project Cars most likely. Then my biggest disappointment was probably Gears 4, which to me at least looked pretty awful and just sort of a downgrade to 3. The new protagonist looks like a doofy B.J. Blazkowicz knock off that while has more personality than Marcus I'd almost say I'd prefer the short worded Marcus over him.

I just feel like Microsoft just sort of did a good job running on the vibes of Backwards Compatabillity and then Rare's Nostalgia collection which is just sort of like, okay, a good handful of these were already on Xbox Live save for Banjo majorly. It's like the major thing for them was that they push they have the most exclusives out this year, but they're the same exact games they rode out the entire Xbox 360 generation with. I'm not saying Sony/Nintendo don't run their franchises along, but it's almost tiring how hard Microsoft is riding on Halo, Gears, Forza, and Fable primarily.

Oh, controller looked pretty neat, I actually hope that fixed my sort of odd fit problems I had with the Xbox One controller. Wouldn't mind owning one of those actually, if it's fun to use.

They showed exactly what the gamers wanted to see. Showed of new IPs which they desperately needed.

90% of what Sony showed off was multi plat games. And then they ended with Blops 3 which looks terrible, and then Uncharted which was good, but just a tech demo really.

Microsoft needs to do something to catch up to Sony's large lead, closer competition means better things for people on both sides.

That sounds like a good start, I would like MS to grab up an exclusive fighting series now that Sony has Street Fighter, they are doing a good job of rounding out their portfolio by picking up Tomb Raider but they need to sell some major consoles. Ideally I want them to surpass Sony sales even though I'm a Sony guy simply because I think Sony is at its best trying to play catch up while Microsoft is a bit fuzzy on "how" to catch up. Things like the elite controller and backwards compatibility are great but they don't sell consoles and the VR will be something that will certainly help but for all the people who actually save to buy consoles VR will not be much of an attainable reality unless the pricing surprises everyone. Microsoft doing exclusives for most of their conference was nice but it seemed like a cop-out. Microsoft used to have the advantage of being the best place to play all the third party titles but this E3 showed at least to me that they don't quite know how to carry a conference when they can't fall back on third party games. Halo and Gears was huge for them this conference along with Forza but the problem is that they can't pull something like that out year after year and they don't have a lot of dormant IP that has been exceedingly successful.

Sorry for the wall of text but I love me some E3.

I've been able to mod in my own HDD to the xbox 360, albeit artificially limited to 500 GB. Offering a 1 TB drive, when the budget drives are now 2 TB (by budget I mean where price and capacity favorably intersect), isn't a huge draw.

Hololens and other VR programs are sold on minecraft. That isn't exactly great in my book. Minecraft will run on anything, and it has largely burned out its relevance. Once I see some 3rd party games that are interesting, I'll start to buy the hype.

Backwards compatibility is a joke. I've tried to play plenty of "backwards compatible" xbox games on a 360. Rarely does MS actually follow through on such huge promises. I'd be surprised if every 360 game actually was playable. I will concede having most of the games compatible would be nice, but I'm not holding my breath.

Streaming, really? You won't be able to stream these games to your phone, and actually play them. Likewise, a tablet is out of the question. Does that mean I can stream my Xbox to my computer? How is that different from actually playing games on my PC? The only counter argument is exclusive titles, but few console exclusives have no parallel on Steam (for way less cost).

Another less than impressive press conference from MS. It was better than the "you can watch tv" presentation, but still not fantastic. To your question, the death and rebirth of GFWL. Kill off the idiotic DRM, make the games cross-platform compatible, and compete with Valve for being the best and easiest way to get games. That would be a bold move, that would require me to offer respect and give people a reason to buy into the Xbone. What this was is not bold, but a demonstration that jogging in place is an acceptable improvement over their past self immolation.

This is generally how I felt at least, all their new IPs to me at least looked very lacking or at least they didn't show enough to garner attention from any of the people I know. The best thing they did there to me was probably continue pushing forward their staple franchises, which is pretty much exactly what they did through all of the 360 cycle as well. Still I would say for a Microsoft conference this one was at least better than normal, I expected more of a train wreck like the past few.

Hololens has a very limited field of view and though the guy giving the demo said it wasn't final he did say it probably won't be changing much.

Casey Hudsons job at Hololens is to figure out how to make games and experiences out of this thing.

I thought Bethesda had the worst press conference.

Todd Howard is not a good presenter. there was no Fallout 4 gameplay (not really) even though the game comes out in a couple months. the Doom 4 demo was so boring I refused to post it on TPU (BF3 20 minute tank demo takes the cake :p)

? Everyone keeps forgetting the big part of that announcement, because Bethesda buried it.

There will be a BETHESDA.NET. Not a website for bethesda, but a new service for "digital content" that is already tied into ES:O. Bethesda buried this potential Uplay style webservice between DOOM and Fallout 4 for a reason.

PlayStations Tomb Raider. Still not as good as Tomb Raider.

For the longest time Tomb Raider basically was just Playstations. Sure the original released on Saturn (but really how many played it there) and on PC (same here). And many of the next games were just PS and PC, pretty sure it was PS pulling the weight on the sales on building the franchise. I guess it wasn't technically an exclusive, but as far as for consoles (besides the Saturn) it was for a long time, so I would have called Playstations Tomb Raider... Tomb Raider.

Well present day PlayStations tomb raider is Uncharted where you play as a bro-hipster dude, rather than actual tomb raider's big breasted arrow shooting get your hands dirty girl.

Dont forget Kinect - That seemed to be all the rage at the previous E3. Now they wont even talk about it anymore, its almost as if it doesnt exist.
