It is used for monitors that have displayport connectors.

If you don't know if you monitor has a displayport, then it probably doesn't. It is just another connector like VGA or DVI or HDMI.

No duh, I know is a monitor adapter... But nothing fits into it... HMDI wont fit the adapter and that's really the only thing that looks like will go in it
