Missing Ram

I have this issue on my board (sabertooth X79) that when i change my memory speed from 1666 to 2000mhz I loose 2 channels. I have 16GB-4X4GB but when i change speed i only have 8GB available.

Any ideas?

Fill out your specs. It will make it easier.

There are few things in play:
1) According to ASUS spec this board supports up to DDR3-1866, so actually you are lucky that your PC starts @2000MHz at all.
2) Check your RAM compatibility against ASUS QVL. Some modules may have issues, some modules are only supported in certain configurations.

Are you using an XMP or changing speeds manually?
Any voltage changes?

I'm changing speeds manually because the XMP profile on this kit would overvolt my IMC too much.

I got it to work...it seems it doesn't like the 2000mhz step but it works fine @2333mhz :) That's with a 125bclk cpu strap, with a 100bclk strap i only loose one channel @2133 :confused:

I would try the painstakingly slow process of manually finding out how much your IMC can take without a voltage increase while benching and then repeating the process with small increases in voltage.
I was able to achieve 2400Mhz on my I5 3570 but never had any real world results past 1866Mhz...Oddly enough set at 2000Mhz I never got it to post...1600, 1866, 2133 and 2400Mhz all did fine...I came to the conclusion the memory just did't work at 2000..
But regardless nice OC.
