Mining performance!

I know crypto has crashed again. But it would still be interesting to gauge how they perform in crypto mining. Can that be added? Or a separate small spinoff review?

Doesn't seem relevant anymore, and mining clients need to be updated for turing, too.

@W1zzard , is this chart ranked, EDIT how are you determining order? It appears that the MSI RTX 2080 Ti Duke is the best so far. Edit or the ASUS Ti STRIX?

The only compare (example) chart I saw was this, EDIT by model: https://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/MSI/GeForce_RTX_2080_Ti_Duke/36.html
Maximum Overclock Comparison
Max. GPU Clock Max. Memory Clock
MSI RTX 2080 Ti Duke 2115 MHz 2005 MHz
ASUS RTX 2080 STRIX 2085 MHz 1940 MHz
MSI RTX 2080 Gaming X Trio 2115 MHz 1995 MHz
Palit RTX 2080 Gaming Pro 2085 MHz 2070 MHz
Palit RTX 2080 Super JetStream 2040 MHz 2010 MHz
NVIDIA RTX 2080 Founders Edition 2100 MHz 1980 MHz
ASUS RTX 2080 Ti STRIX 2115 MHz 2065 MHz
MSI RTX 2080 Ti Gaming X Trio 2085 MHz 2005 MHz
NVIDIA RTX 2080 Ti Founders Edition 2110 MHz 1945 MHz

Important: Each GPU (including each GPU of the same make and model) will overclock slightly
differently based on random production variances. This table just serves to provide a list of typical
overclocks for similar cards, determined during TPU review.

It is not sorted in any way. The tested card is supposed to be at the beginning of the list.

Any suggestions how the sort order could be determined?

The lack of order makes me unhappy too, but I'm not sure what people think would be best

I'm not interested on mining performance, but it would be great if we could see some performance tests / comparison for GPU rendering or Deep Learning.

Make the text of the first row (the card being reviewed) bold, and/or apply a different row colour; you can use the CSS selector tr:first-child to achieve that. Sort the other cards alphabetically by name. Do the same for other tables where it makes sense (e.g. "GPU Temperature Comparison").

Even better: make the table dynamic a la Wikipedia, with column headers that allow you to set the sort order. That would allow people to e.g. easily see which card achieved the highest clocks.

I'm more interested in seeing some SLI tests, come on, does the new 80$ sli bridge change anything hihi
and also some overclocked tests (1080, 1080ti, 2080, 2080ti)
thank you in advance if it is possible

I like that you sorted by 2 groups 2080 and 2080Ti. (light to heavy) Perhaps a line break between groups could be used.

The question is do you sort by CPU or Ram Overclock. Which metric?

I think CPU should be given first place then Ram but because you are the one handling the cards I think it would be helpful if your impression on quality and ease of obtaining the overclock entered into your ranking system. I'm OK with your judgement call even if not scientific.(perhaps a notation, if needed, to explain the choice, if not based on numbers. EDIT: Dual Bios, ram used, better fans, better quality components, smooth bends on heat pipes or better power circuitry.

Is putting the review sample at the top required or could you highlight the line item in green, even if halfway down the list?
Are you restricted by anything, NDA or other professional agreement?

No (at least nothing that's in any way relevant for this discussion)

Highlighting could work just as fine

Any other ideas?

Understanding that each model is a separate review: Would it be fair to put an asterisk next to the model that gets your top vote for each category 2080 and 2080Ti.

I'm asking this because the differences are small, as you point out, from model to model and you handle the cards. The masses just don't have that kind of access.
*W1zzard's top pick: (blah blah notation why.) ((post #10))

The end page comments, like Palit being over priced yet having a better fan, explain minor differences over the Founders Edition, gives a type of rating but you seem reluctant to put your badge on a single model. Card vendors may not like it, but I think most readers would appreciate the notation as they narrow their own choices to budget and features.

Different people have different tastes? $$ / perf / out of the box oc / manual oc / temps / noise / vrm / power limit / max power adjustment limit / reference pcb for watercool / looks / rgb / availability / loyalty / quality of support / case size limits

pick one combination, you'll come end up with a different card than i do
