.mkv to other formats - program to convert?

Discussion in 'General Software' started by TechnicalFreak, May 20, 2010.

  1. Does anyone know of a free software that can convert .mkv files (video) to avi or divx? All the converters I have found want $$$ for them.

I thought I should ask the experts in this area (You), I have not a clue where to find any freeware versions. I do not want any "illegal" or cracked versions either..

    Thankful for any replies given.

  7. Link would be good, try searching "Super", and see how many hits you get..
    Thanks anyway.
What formats does it convert .mkv to?

Ok, it's free... will test it (saw wrong, thought it was a pay4full product).

The HandBrake software, nice, clean - free.. But, it could only convert it to .mp4.. Don't know if DVD can handle that format. I know it can handle AVI, DiVX and some other formats..

Forget about other converters. You only need this one:
    http://www.formatoz.com

FormatFactory will convert pretty much anything you throw at it. I found this tool like a year ago and never looked at anything else since. It's so damn simple to use and does the job.
    Give it a try.

Sorry but I have to chuckle at that part...The Irony...:wtf:

This is what I have been using for years for converting for my PS3 and works simply and flawlessly it can also do .x264 as well.
