More like newer revision. It was 001. before, which got replaced with .005 and now .008.

so according to you the .005 are not the original ones, and should be manufactured later with possibly better QC ?

Who knows about the QC... It's simply a new version. Likely with some improvements from previous versions, but we wouldn't have any idea of the QC improved.

I did see that Asus at some point switched from a 10 bit panel to an 8 bit one. As often as not, changes in the componentry result from cost cutting measures as actual improvements. latest info I have is that the XB271HU uses an AuOptonics M270DAN02.8 10 bit (8+2) 165 Hz AHVA IPS 1,073,771,824 color panel. The Asus PG279Q reportedly now has an 8 bit panel (M270Q008 V0) w/ only 16,777,216 colors. So for all I know ... the change might have been to match Asus' move w/ a lower color range panel.
