Monitor On/Off or Screen Saver?

My Dell U2711 has been automatically turning off after 5-15 minutes of inactivity for the decade I've had it, and it still works fine. And that's even a CCFL-backlit model! There's no reason to touch the power button (unless, as mentioned above, something keeps waking your monitor), and keeping it on is just wearing it out and burning electricity for no reason. If something fails in time, it fails, and speculating as to whether on/off cycles hurts backlights with a sample size of one is impossible.

If you turn the Monitor on 10-20 Times a Day. i would also say, to leave it on with energy saving settings to turn it off after 15 minutes. If you manually power the monitor on and off so often, then the Powersupply of the monitor might complain after a few years.

I wonder if the computer turn on 24/7, is it safe? Not over heat? No a boom?

My computer stays on unless I need to restart since I run F@H and BOINC. No explosions yet.

Been doing it that way for at least a decade across multiple monitors. Not sure what to say other than it works fine.

I don't think it matters as far as the life of the monitor unless its an old one and not efficient.

Monitor backlights dim over time, even LED backlights. The longer the backlight is on, the worse it gets.

I lock my computer whenever I step away from it, and iirc every monitor I've ever used automatically goes into sleep mode upon me doing so. That's the route I take now.

I run my computer 24/7 and when I'm home I will constantly turn the monitor on to do the usual things on the PC. When I'm done I will turn the monitor off. This can happen 10-20 times a day for instance worse case scenario.

I used to turn my monitor on/off every time I used it (10-20 times a day sounds like a max scenario for me too), after after about a decade, the switch started to go.

Screen savers are for display tech of days gone by.

Nah, personally I just left my monitors on either I turn off my system or not as they will turn off anyway, tho I shutdown the TV on 2nd rig if I let it on, like now its runnin Prime95.

Consumer devices are built to a price. LEDs don't have infinite lifespan. LCDs also have burn-in, here's the IPS screen in my Lenovo X250 after being left for several hours with the screen on:

It vanishes after a few hours of being off so it's not a problem, but I've seen quite a lot of permanently burned-in LCDs, although usually ones being on 24/7/365
In general LCDs don't seem to care a whole lot, but their backlight does. LEDs fade over time and the Chinese ones used in most consumer devices are of poor quality, here are two strips I had to replace in an Asus monitor - I don't remember the exact model, but it was one of the first 144Hz 2560x1440 ROG branded edge lit screens from a few years ago. Many monitors drive the LEDs to their absolute limit or even beyond it.

Power supplies in monitors are generally rubbish and most of them are clearly designed to fail just after warranty ends, especially in consumer-oriented devices.
Cheap consumer stuff - yeah, it will fail, but is usually not prohibitively expensive to repair. Serious stuff? I had the Dell U2711 which easily crossed the 50 000 hours mark but lost confrontation with a cat tangled in cables.
I'd say turning the screen off several times a day won't hurt it. What hurt most screens I repaired was heat in the power supply or low quality LEDs. First one you can mitigate by not running it all the time, the second you're stuck with.

My screen has a external brick PSU, so i guess that's a bonus, if it dies, easy enough to replace. and 15min sleep now.

On WIN10LTSC I have ribbons as my preferred one but I turn off the monitor at night of course too much light

I never turn off my monitor, I just let it sleep. There was a time when I let my PC run all the time.. its how I knew it still worked and I had it in my head that cold starts and thermal cycles are bad.. I do let it sleep now.. but now that I am at work for 10.5 hours a day, I just shut er down when I am done with it before bed. It still turns on every day so that's good

I have my 5600X back in set to 2K 1:1 x47 1.3v and it might as well be 3200 with PBO, no problems.. *knocks wood* This CPU is ridiculously easy to cool compared to 5900X.
