Monitor Recommendation(s)

A few weeks ago, I wouldn't have posted this on TPU. But honestly, you guys know your sh!t, so hopefully you can help me decide.

What im looking for:

More landscape
1900x1200 (or 1080)
Doesnt suck
$200-$350

This will be an upgrade from my Acer 22". It performs just fine, but i'm getting tired of it, and the size is just disappointing. So what would you guys recommend? Brands, models, anything else

I have an Asus 25.5" 1920x1200 and absolutely love it. Here's a newegg link:

Lots of connectivity, great quality, and the built in speakers arnt absolutely crap. No USB but thats not a biggie for me.

Hadnt thought about that. I imagine my video card would have some trouble keeping up with games, but that shouldnt be a problem for long.

I still really like the idea of my physical size though

tbh, I prefer a 21.5" 1080p to a 25.5" 1080p just because of the pixel pitch being so great

the 2048x1152 is even higher pixel pitch, hence my wowness to it

Dirt2, MW2, whatever else i feel like. I honestly dont think ive ever seen a 2048x1152 in person.

well, for racing games and flight simulation, I'd go with bigger monitor, for basically anything else, I'd go with pixel pitch awesomeness...

Hmm.. Well, I do quite a bit of both. Racing and Flying happen to be my biggest 2 hobbies. Do you have any particular recommendations for 23" monitors then?

B33HU was 180$ on shellshocker like 2 days ago

but its 210$ now, still good... else there is that samsung...

Have any more specific info? lol. That model number doesnt find anything, anywhere for me. Newegg/TD are neither one showing any monitors at that res, except for a few 27" and 30" monitors, sadly... WAAAAY out of my price range. lol

A 24" 1920x1200 monitor does higher res and more pixels than a 23.6" at 1920x1080. You lose vertical size as well with 1080. 1200p beats 1080p! I run a Samsung as well, 2443bw.

Yeah, thats kinda why I want to try and stay with a 19x12. The problem is, it seems like Newegg and TigerDirect have WAAAY more 1920x1080 monitors than 19x12 now.

Ahh. WOW, thats actually not a bad price either. For some reason, newegg doesn't show that monitor when i use the filter for that resolution. Tiger Direct and Newegg both have HORRIBLE systems for searching through monitors.

1920x1080, 23'' monitor with HDMI+DVI+VGA!

Very good dot pitch, I have it and I like it very much. I have absolutely no complains. Was considerably cheap, considering the monitor it is.

EDIT: Oh, sorry. I read only the 1st replies, didn't saw that you were really going for the 19x12. Still, this is a very good monitor.

i still say t260 1920x1200 25.5inch dvi vga hdmi component etc etc ive had a PS2 PS3 xbox 360 2 PCs hooked up at once :toast:

I to was planning on a 1920x1200 (16:10) but after seeing the difference between 16:10 vs 16:9 in store i decide on a 16:9 much better & wider field of view which is what i was looking for.

For me 16:10 is to close to the old 4:3 format (in between 4:3 & real widescreen 16:9) i wanted as wide as possible so 16:9 is "perfect"

If they could do monitor that were 20:9 or something close , it would be even better for me because i still don't find 16:9 that much wide i want MORE....

I love my HP LP2465, you can't beat a 24" S-PVA panel for $220.

I wouldn't go back to a TN panel.

Lots of people seem to have this same mentality. However, I've yet to be convinced. For someone using it primarily for gaming, is it worth it?

It depends. Right now are you bothered by color shift, color accuracy, backlight bleed, banding, and poor viewing angles? It gets worse on a bigger panel too, btw. To me it's worth the extra money. I just don't see the point of spending so much money on a rig to play on a sub-par monitor especially when the monitor will probably outlast the rest of the rig.

I've been hearing really good things about the HP ZR24w, btw. The Dell UT2410 is another great option. So is the NEC EA231WMi.
