Monitor Squealing

Ok after writing on a few different sites I haven't got a very good answer so will try here! Here's a copy and paste of something I wrote somewhere else.

Monitor -Phillips 234EL2SB

I just received this monitor today and its great, amazing picture quality, response time but its started making a high pitch squeal, after looking around on google everyone says to change refresh rate but that doest work, it doesn't squeal straight away, it takes some time before it happens and i'm currently timing it to see if it happens after a certain amount of time.

Before I send it back for testing and replace it with a new one does anyone know of any fixes (without breaking the warranty) is this is a problem with this monitor make or am I unlucky and just got a dogey one?

For what its worth I'm using it dual screen with my old lcd, have a 5670 GPU, i know not amazing, planning on upgrading when I get cash but should handle this with ease.

All the reviews I've read about it are positive but so I think its just broken but just in-case I hope some more knowledgeable people would know, thanks!

Edit:
Ok so I thought before it could be a graphics issue as it would happen after I played some games on highest but disregarded it, so after about 2 hours of waiting for the noise it never came, I went on black ops and put it maxed out and sure enough the sound came back, I restarted the PC so the sound vanished and went on Black ops immediately. The annoying noise happened as soon as black ops loaded.

Is it just my GPU cant handle it maxed too well and is also causing the monitor to heat up and overload?

Are you sure it's coming from the monitor? I know GPU's and PSU caps can tend to squeal/whine but never heard of a monitor doing it. That said my HDTV has an annoying electrical "buzz" though not an squeal, is apparently common on the monitor brand I have (Sony Bravia) though it is fixable under warranty, I just cba RMAing it right now

Im certain its the monitor, I put my ear right up against it, there's also a gap of about 50cm between the PC and monitor.

Tbh if it is definately coming from the monitor and it is new, I would just send off for an replacement even if that means using your old one for a week or so.

Yeah I know, but if I found out it was the GPU then I wouldn't feel bad about buying a new GPU which I've been planning to do for ages =p My friend has a pretty beastly PC so I guess I will take it round his and test it on his PC and see the results...

I just tried again and happened again in black ops, also checked gpu-z on the other screen and it went to 100% load so I don't know, just really frustrating. But it only seems to happen the the GPU comes under some stress that's why I feel its GPU related. Meh.

Does changing the brightness help? Many monitors give off a barely audible high pitch sounds. (To anyone who thinks it's specific to CCFL back lights. I can tell you it's not.) How loud is it?

Did you make sure to change the settings in Black Ops to use the native resolution of the monitor? It might be using a lower resolution that is causing the monitor to squeal.

I changed the resolution to 1920 x 1080 which is what this monitor is and 60hz.

When I started black ops it happened again so I messed around with brightness and I dont know if it was just me having the sound stuck in my head but it seemed as if the darker it was the less high pitch the sound was but still quite loud and the brighter the more high pitched, but no matter what it wouldn't go away.

I changed the screens brightness by pressing the buttons, then also through the ati catalyst control centre and in black ops settings.

sounds like a capacitor is making noise, when you turn the brightness up the load increases and the sound gets higher pitch

Ok, I will trust you guys! I still think its odd that it only happens after I load up black ops though... I haven't tried other games yet. I will pull out an old PC of mine tomorrow and see if it has the same problem but I suppose I will send it back for a new one.

And I Just turned it super bright using catalyst control centre and it went really high pitched until I could hardly hear it... although it was so bright I could hardly see anything on screen... weird that it doesn't happen straight away though.
