Ok, I've been saving up out of my paycheck for a bit, and have ~$250(USD) to spare. I was kind of torn between a new video card, or a new monitor. And I figured, it would be better to go with a monitor, and then wait for the hd5870's later, since a 4890 or gtx280 would be over kill for a 19inch 1280x1024 monitor. So I'm looking around on the egg, I want a 22-24 inch monitor, prefrably with a high res for a/v editing and photoshop. I also game, but mostly source games, like TF2, L4D and CSS. So something with a 5ms response wont kill me. I want to keep it cheaper but will spend up to my limit if its a good deal.

Heres what I've been looking at:
23 Inch Samsung: (really funky resolution, but its very high, which would be good)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824001317

24inch Asus (leaning towards the most)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824236048

24 inch Acer (my friend has this, so I know from experience its a pretty good monitor)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824009167

I am 100% open to other suggestions, so please feel free to post something else.

Thanks guys :D

I like Samsung and LG for monitors. Never had experience with Acer, but I hear their monitors are good too.

Edit: The Asus looks nice.

My only worry about the Samsung with the strange resolution is that some games may not support that resolution. Also, you may want to upgrade to a better graphics card to be able to handle such a high resolution. I don't think Source games would give a HD3870 much trouble though, even at that resolution.

Well eventually, come september/october, i will be upgrading to an HD5870. So Graphics wont be too much of a problem for long. I was also worried about games not supporting the resolution, like I said its funky, but other people are playing games on the same resolution (link that Hoss provided) and it seems to be working fine. And even though its superficial, I'm gonna have to really search for wallpapers at that res XD. Nothing a little photoshop cant fix though :p

I was a little worried about the weird res at first but every game I've played has recognized it. I video edit in 16:9 so again it fits what I had in mind when I bought it. The picture is great.

Sorry for the double post, but I'm just letting everyone know I went with the Asus, since I've been reading and getting mixed feelings on the game support of the res that the samsung has.

LG Flatron high response speed, extended colors range and good fonctions

He bought the Asus, which has a faster response time, and about the same color range.

Seeing this thread made me go buy Xazax's 23" Samsung. It is awesome :)

Oops, it was actually the last thread linked to above, still a great monitor!

My vote goes for the Acer. I have it's 23.3" brother and it's utterly awesome. Lots of features, great quality, overall great monitor. I paid $180 for mine at Staples a while back, but that price isnt bad for a 24".

Whoops, nvm. I r nawt gud with teh context. Enjoy the Asus :D

The Asus came today (hooray for living 60 miles from the New Jersey Warehouse! ^_^) i LOVE this thing, beautiful quality, the colors are so much more vibrant, and no more KVM switch to switch between sever and main pc! It supports two inputs, that can switch at the touch of a button! WOOO!! pictures to come
