If he bought it used, was he still supporting 'the company'?
I bought all my recent geforce cards used (980,980ti,1080 (x2) and 1080ti), none of the red team fanboys here asked me that question before smearing me for making a morally wrong choice, including you know who as well

$250 is the sweet spot. Yes, $200 will be great, but NV will never do that.

Even $250 is kind of pushing it.

Then what was the point of the USB-C standard in GPUs if the ones that will be the biggest part of the market dont have it?

Lower-end GPUs don't have the horsepower to drive VR anyway, so the point is moot.

Im expecting it to be between 250 and 300 dependant on the version , which will drop later in the year perhaps, but will be a bit steep non the less.

im counting in the pre brexit increases were seeing plus, nvidia new tax and AIB fancy variety's though, , not that the Fe, if their is one will be cheaper mind.

Why wish for 199$? We can all be a little bit more delusional and hope that they will hand a GTX 1070 (329$) equivalent card completely for free to everybody who registers to their site.
Plenty of good 1070s going on eBay for under $200 right now...

Really? because the GTX 1060 6GB and the RX 580 are able to do VR with no problems.
I fail to see how the GTX 1660Ti which is apparently just a refresh of the 1060 wouldn't be able to do VR.

Interesting, now I just need a review to see if it's worth upgrading to when the price is going down to something like $260ish

My friend plays VR games without problems with his good old GTX 970 which is the official minimum for VR use.

There's a massive difference between "can play at all" and "can play with minimal reprojection and frame drop". Besides which, future headsets (and therefore games) are going to recommend GTX 1070: https://www.roadtovr.com/vive-pro-recommended-spec-seeks-gtx-1070-drops-1060-to-minimum-spec/

Neah, those card can't handle VR properly. VR requires constant 90fps in order not to induce nausea. Even if you accept some dips, neither card is up to the task.

The thing about VR though, is that a large majority of the games we have to choose from are not high poly count with huge textures, so we can get away with full (or at least very good) frame rates from a 1060. Since our niche is quite small, pretty much all developers are targeting that 90fps on a 1060 as their ceiling when creating their games so they can reach the largest audience possible. Unfortunately there isn't something like BF5, or a demanding AAA title that is graphically intensive to allow the highest end cards to really shine in VR. (I hope this changes soon though) I'm sure there are some outliers, but generally speaking the 1060 seems to handle VR nicely from my experience on a Rift running on the living room pc.

guessing this is going to be between a 1060 and 1070. This whole generation of graphics cards has sucked. price/performance ratio is not as good as previous generations.

You don't have to guess, this thing has ~20% more CUDA cores and quite a bit more memory bandwidth. So yes, it is going to be between 1060 and 1070. If it's faster than a 1060 and priced similarly, that translates into better price/perf ratio in my book (price to be confirmed though).

Exactly. Miss those days of GTX 460, 560 Ti and 660. Good performance with affordable price.

Don't forget that Turing GPUs perform better than Pascal GPUs when both have the same core count (RTX 2060 vs GTX 1070, both have 1920 CUDA cores yet the RTX 2060 performs more like a 1070 Ti, which has 2432 CUDA cores).
I'm speculating that the 1660 Ti will be around 1070 tier or close to it.

Well, 1070 is like 30% faster at FHD than 1060, so yes this one is going to be around there somewhere. My hunch is it will be slightly slower, but let's wait and see.
