i have a monitor and a tv hooked up to my 250gts. 250gts comes with 2 dvi plugs so one monitor is hooked up via dvi->hdmi adapter. The other is hooked up the same way. now i want to get a third TV involved. So i thought
1 monitor - dvi>hdmi
2nd monitor dvi>hmdi>hdmi splitter> monitor
3rd monitor dvi>hmdi>hdmi splitter> monitor
but unfortunately the splitter causes nvidia control panel to malfuntion in a way it does not recognize neither of the 2 monitors on the splitter.
Now, can i possibly hook up the 3rd monior via onboard graphics or do i have to get a video card that supports 3 outputs?

You can cut cards down??

You can cut cards down??

Yep, all you need is a dremel and you can cut down any x16 card to an x1 to fit in an x1 slot. See here.

Since PCI-E spec is designed to allow this. You can put an x1 card into an x16 slot, and you can put an x16 card into an x1 slot. In this case you would just be cutting off the connector to make it fit in the x1 slot.

There are a few cards that this doesn't work on, high end graphics cards for example, but the lower end cheapy cards usually always work. You can test before doing any cutting by taping off the connectors like shown in the thread. If the card doesn't work in x1 then just return it. And like I said, if you pick up something insanely cheap like the GT210 or something, if you screw up the card it isn't a terrible loss.
