Just what are people playing?
Im talking free other than the cost of the DVD.. BF2142 doesnt really seem to be all that populated any more... I certainly dont want to pay any kind of monthly fee... So what are people playing>? and is there a site that lists how many people are playing particular games?
From wat i can see.. COD4 is whats hot.. but Id like to see if there is anything else Multiplayer, thats good. .

Cod4, Cod 5, Left4dead, team fortress, 2 Killing floor. those four seem to always have servers with lots of players.

I used to play Counterstrike Source but stopped a year ago, not enough multiplayer development back then, it was the "same old" for months, with about 3 new maps in a whole year. I went onto COD4 and loved that but have now replaced that with COD World at war.

i played the bejesus out of cod4 and i can no longer stand to play it or 5 for more then half an hour... L4D and TF2 never really did it for me. and bf2142 sucks imo

What looked childish? Plays like other MMO's out there, just more polished, but gone easy mode now :/ Either way OP is looking for non-monthly sub games.

Most do not know that Killing Floor use to be a mod, and believe it is a stand alone game. I am completely addicted to L4D though, sooo much fun. Also the few hours of Day of Defeat Source is a nice change between killing some survivors.

Doom3 and Quake4 still get a TON of action . . .

if you want to go old-school, Quake2 is still very active as well.



Haven't really checked the MP scene much over the last year, though . . . last I checked, FEAR was still strong, and Crysis Wars.
