The game strangely runs really bad whenever I start it with high settings.
But if I start it with low settings and then change the settings back to high, it runs pretty smooth.

Not all settings take effect until you restart. The setting that is causing your issue is not actually being turned on until you restart.

The worst is Ambient Occlusion but we know this setting is very heavy in all games. But even with it disabled, framerate can crash down and burn sometimes. Usually in a tunnel with few cars and it just goes ridiculously low for no apparent reason. The scene is not polygon heavy, lighting is nothing special etc, i don't get it. It's just weird.

Game runs at 60fps (verticle sync forced) permanently for me. I have two 570's but as they say its CPU bound, and I'm on an fx 6200 @ 4.7, which pales in comparison to most gamers 3570k, but it still runs beautifully, which is what I'd expect for a console port with almost zero graphical options. Still looks alright and plays ok, semi decent driving game I suppose but I prefer the more realistic racers.

Plays on my PC fluidly. No frame rate issues at all.

Now the game is nothing special though but whatever.

for me and my old Q8400 I found my problem, it was the memory for me, one of my memory modules just died today replacing it fixed my fps problem, I would reccomend anyone having problems to check and see if your system is stable.

Any one know if there is going to be a demo for this game?

Well I did get the game...looks like no demo for now if at all. This game has great eye candy (need powerful CPU and GPU in-order to get the desired frame rate with all the candy tho)! I certainly hope there will be more views or a hack to do so, other than that so far the game is fine!
Using the MoMo Racing and it works great as well. Just need to do an initial config but the game does recognize the wheel.

Running my CPU at stock in my rig I needed to knock every thing to medium graphics. Resolution didn't seem to make a difference but settings do.

I will run a test and see how much of a difference an overclock on the CPU makes as people are claiming.

Going from Stock 2.2GHZ to a overclock of 4.2GHZ on my Rig in the Sig.

Min / Max / Avg
35 / 52 / 46.431 Overclocked to 4.2GHZ
22 / 48 / 40.189 Stock 2.2GHZ

I used AFR Friendly in the CCC and no overclocks on the graphic cards at all.

I played it for about 15 minutes and the best words I can use is: this game has no soul. It isn't a bad port, no, it's much worse: it's a bad game. I'd rather play the REAL Most Wanted; not this phony, pathetic excuse for an update to it.

Edit: Played it over an hour now and my conclusion is the same as above: no soul.

Yup. Even Hot Pursuit 2010 had some. This game...it just feels like it shouldn't be played--like all they cared about were lengthy race intro cutscenes--like they didn't even bother to play Most Wanted--like they're milking the cash cow and nothing else.

What I don't like already:
-Doing a burnout to start an event. You can't do a burn out when your'e already going 100+. You always got to stop, turn around, then do the stupid burn out.
-Tesla Roadster (an all electic vehicle) has a Nitrous upgrade. Does not compute.
-The upgrade system is completely stupid. You have to win races to get upgrades (long gears, nitrous, offroad tires, reinforced frame, etc.). Thing is, most of these upgrades aren't even upgrades. They do as much damage to other aspects of the car as they improve. It also means each car is very much on rails in terms of race difficulty. You can't just get a giant pot of cash and spend it on one car to make it obscenely good. The lack of flexibility and choice is annoying.
-You don't buy cars like in Most Wanted. You "find" them conviently parked (hidden) all over the city ripe for the plucking. You therefore, don't own anything. So that means I can't buy four Ford GTs like I did in Most Wanted, all with different colors and tuned differently. All that's different about them is where they are parked.
-Very little customization. I think pretty much just the upgrades I spoke of before and changing color. You can't put body kits on it, change rims, paint the rims, etc.
-It seems more difficult than typical racing games to dodge traffic. If you see a vehicle in your path, 9/10 says you're going to hit it and probably lose the race. It's typical of other arcade racing games. The difference is below ("crashed")--gets really annoying:
-When it goes into the "Crashed" effect, escape is diabled meaning you can't do retry. You have to wait for the animation to end before selecting retry. This even applies to after winning events. It shows your cars current stats and until that clears, escape is disabled--and so is the map. You still might be pursued by cops and have no idea where to go because the map is hidden. A hugely annoying design flaw.
-There are no pursuit breakers like there was in Most Wanted. You know, giant signs you could take out that would destroy cop cars behind you. You're only option is the typical cat and mouse. If we wanted cat and mouse, we'd play Hot Pursuit 2010 dammit! Grr...
-They recycle maps and events, frequently. The only difference is the car.
-Shamless EA advertising all over it. There are billboards for DICE, Bioware, and many other EA brands.

I literally have nothing good to say about it. Literally. And I usually can come up with one thing...

Oh! I got it! It's only one DVD. NFS: The Run was two. Yeah...pathetic.

Yeah the traffic sucks, shouldn't be enabled in a race.SO fooking frustrating. I think I beat the game, but it doesn't really give you anything extra. 2 races I did show i got 2nd place yet I beat them 1st a bunch of times so idk.

Not me, I just hit both gas and brake...even going 230mph(this pissed me off once). Races are "off course" enough that it only happened once, and I've upgraded every car in the game, as well as the "pro" add-ons.

There is no pursuit breakers because what you are NOT supposed to do is... play cat and mouse. You're supposed to go through repair shops at BLAZING speeds, or, jump in another car from any of the many jack spots, when not in view of the cops. That's why they arte ALL OVER the map.

Got too many cops after ya? RAM 'EM!!!! you get different points based on the takedown type, headon-t-bone, etc etc.

Otherwise, I pretty much agree with ya...however, controls were fine for me using 360 controller. Loose, yes. Impossible to dodge traffic? No...Just do a "Norwegian Flick" to avoid cars.;)

Anyway, played trhe game a bit obsessively last weekend, finished it, then uninstalled. I feel I kidna wasted some cash here, would give it a 6/10 at current pricing, 8/10 @ $17.99. :p

I have to agree with most of what FordGT said, and you aren't the first to say it has no soul. I've seen it said elsewhere and it's true.

Pursuit Breakers & Cooldown Spots vs drive and hide

While you CAN say PBs and CSs aren't "needed" in this game, they were elements in the last one that added fun. There was cause and effect, find and reward. I have no trouble evading in this one, but it feels more like a wild goose chase using the mini map to avoid going where cops spawn vs using that mischievous destroy and dash element of MW1 that fit the whole theme of climbing the MW ladder better. Here it feels more contrived because the game constantly magically spawns cops more to keep up with you. In MW1 I studied the map a lot to devise various Bounty Run routes because despite the Pursuit Breakers and Cooldown Spots, you needed to have a good plan to evade. Here the cars and boost are so powerful you can hide almost anywhere after some mad dashing.

Upgrade system of MW2

It's overly simplistic, and while I don't agree that there's not much difference in using them, there are plenty of cases where you're better off skipping certain ones and sticking with stock parts, specifically gearing, barring special events like solo speed runs. There are SO many races that start off seemingly tarmac only, then switch to lots of off road sections, so those grippy track tires only work well on certain races. There's also SO much bashing going on that seldom would you choose aero or lightweight kits over reinforced or impact resistant. Basically they leaned too much toward Burnout and not enough toward Most Wanted. I also LOLed at nitro on the Tesla. I imagine even Elon Musk had a good laugh over that. Musk, "So what, do you somehow inject it into the electronics?" Criterion, "Yeah, it's a new nitrous infused version of fluorescent fiber optics we conjured up."

Unanticipated vehicle crashes

While I don't agree completely that it's usually hard to dodge traffic, the overall poor visibility in the game can certainly cause it on it's own, along with lots of obstacles along winding narrow streets that are hard to see in time at high speeds, and the oft placed crossing traffic just when you've gotten a good lead up. The game certainly tries it's best to make you slip up in very annoying ways.

Events and cars

It's a shame that while in many respects the game is lackluster and annoying, many of the race routes and cars are fun. They certainly didn't dial in comparative handling well though. Anytime a Porsche 918 handles worse than a Bugatti Veyron, you know they've dropped the ball on vehicle characteristics. Yeah, I know it's just an arcade game, but still, ANY game with this many licensed cars ought to at LEAST get the comparative handling dialed in from one drastically different car to another. Needle Point and some others are quite exhilarating. I think that one and a few others I barely got up enough ave speed to get the #1 spot. That's not saying much when you consider I'm in my mid 50s and playing on KB though.

Overall satisfaction & replay value

Not much to say here. As mentioned, the lack of an engaging story and characters, fun gameplay elements like toppling signs and scaffolding onto cop cars, and fine tuning, just takes a lot out of the game. To add to that features like nitro on an electric car and a Veyron that out handles a 918 just adds insult to injury though. I became 2nd on the MW list after only 37% completion and just ONE MW car taken down, and have remained there after having taken down and fully upgraded via all the races for all but TWO of the top MW cars. The progression feels confusing, repetitious and lifeless. Add to that no difficulty levels to work your way up through and I see no reason to play this game through more than once.

For anyone implying the game has a built-in variety of difficulty level, I say to that it's yet another oversimplified cheap game element that doesn't work. For one, if you DO have to skip the Hard events due to not being able to beat them, you miss some of the better race routes. Two, there are SO many fast cars in the game, some of which handle quite well, that if you so much as equip the upgrades you get from the Easy and Medium events, they don't really FEEL all that Hard. In fact a lot of Hard events are actually quite easy because of this.

Summary

Oversimplified, unfocused, lifeless game that has no resemblance to the MW1 formula that worked quite well, wasn't broken, and didn't need fixing.

You know what made Most Wanted special and has never been repeated since in a Need for Speed title? The "Rap Sheet."

The pursuit breakers were important to advance the rap sheet. You were literally "the most wanted" when you pissed off the cops more than anyone else. Makes sense, no? There's a lot of events in Most Wanted 2012 where there isn't even a cop in sight yet it makes you more "wanted." Not to mention, cars, nor you, get heat that is difficult to shake. Most Wanted encouraged you to own multiple copies of your favorite cars so they had time to exhaust their heat. Heat in Most Wanted 2012 is simply a one-off thing.

Let's not forget the slow-mo ability to make it easier to carve a path through road blocks too that Most Wanted 2012 is completely devoid of.

I edited my last post to reflect what I learned from playing a few hours longer.

Edit: Became "most wanted" in less than 7 hours (6:43). Only fully upgraded (not pro for the most part) the following cars:
-Ariel Atom
-Aston Martin V12 Vantage
-Audi R8 GT Spyder (all except one Pro)
-BAC Mono
-Bugatti Veyron Super Sport (beat it with this car)
-Ford F-150 SVT Raptor
-Lamborghini Aventador
-Pagani Huayra

There was a few other cars (before I knew what I was doing) that I did one race on (Tesla Roadster and SRT Viper for sure).

There's 41 unique cars in the game and I obviously didn't come close to that. I never even found the Ford GT.
