Motherboard for Ryzen 5 2600?

Hi, I'm thinking of buying the Ryzen 2600 CPU, but I don't know which motherboard to buy, which one do you recommend to buy?

Honestly it's all personal preference based on what features you want or need. Any X470 or B450 will work though with a 2600

Hi I would go the As rock X470 Master SLI. It is a feature rich board that can be had for as low as $120 depending on where you live. I picked up one last week for $149 Canadian with a $40 MIR. Everything about the board is rock solid.

def grab x470 mobo like asrock taichi, most x470 mobo has beefier vrm to handle ryzen 3000. I had no issue running my 3900x with STRIX X470-F GAMING but with mild OC.

I have to second that opinion! When I had a 2600 in that motherboard it worked great. I have a huge newegg review that's hard to miss covering 2600 cpu and upgrade to 3800x tips on that board.
I liked the MSI B450 Tomahawk too (the original or max should both be fine).

Very happy with my AsRock B450 Pro4 Motherboard. Great price and it's been great. I really like the dual M.2 slots. Audio is clear, but not alot of Bass and no spdif. I have an HT Omega Claro Halo though so I'm good there.

From VRM point the B450 Tomahawk is a step better from almost any AsRock B450 boards.
It can handle even the 3950X with OC if a good amount of airflow is blown to VRMs.

I tend to recommend quiet often the Tomahawk for the budget build.

Agreed but the Master SLI is an X470 board. The only better VRM from As rock is on the X470 Taichi.

I know it’s X470, yet again the B450 tomahawk has better VRMs than almost any AsRock X470/B450 board, with the exception of X470 taichi. I have the list of VRM ratings as posted.
Its important for anyone looking to upgrade CPU to 12/16cores down the road.

Per the spreadsheet if your not OC'ing CPU (which Ryzen isn't very practical for anyway) then I don't see an issue with most x470's or b450's other than some thermal management. A good airflow case and most of the x470 and b450 choices should be quite viable if your looking for cost savings or simply hate the idea of chipset fans in x570.

Yes but the Master SLI has the exact same amount of phases as the Tomahawk with a better feature set.

For the feature set yes, X470 is superior, cant argue that. Its all to preference and what the user needs.
But same amount of phases does not mean anything. Each phase could be stronger or weaker(in this case).

You mean if it will be compatible with current and next gen AMD CPUs?
Regarding this then X470 and B450 are standing at the same point. X470 doesnt have anything to make it more compatible with 3000/4000series CPUs over B450.

I have a 2600 on an Asus ROG Strix B450-F and it works Great !
I also ran my 3700x on that board for about a month until I got my ROG Strix X470-F and it ran very well on that B450 board.

running a 3900x on my msi B450-A pro, tomahawk has the same vrm basically, should work fine.

Ah, I'm honest and I don't know that much about the differences bertween the models.. MAX versions have a BIOS chip with larger capacity, so if you flash a non-MAX board with a bios supporting the 3000 series, some features will disappear. Like support for those pre-Zen APUs (who cares?).

I say go for a X570 board now, if your budget allows. Sure they are more money then a X4xx series board. Like you mentioned, upgrading to a 3xxx Ryzen , you know the X570 will be the board to have.

Then MSI's cheapest X570 models are a no-go.

Weird how their B450 series kick ass, but with X570 series, the cheaper ones suck.

e: Why X570 would be a must have? I know people who run 3600, 3700X and 3900X on X370 boards without problems.

From what I gathered per the VRM Ratings spreadsheet (and other online reviews) was x570 VRM's are generally better across the board. Also they have to be better quality in general in order to support Pcie 4.0. If I remember correctly the trend for terrible heat-sink design didn't entirely disappear with x570 so choose wisely.

Hm, seems that many lower tier motherboards can even handle some 3700X/3800X OC. At least with some VRM cooling.
