Strange decision to have 2x m.2 but only single dimm slot. 8gb is the minimum nowadays and upgrading means throwing out the existing 4gb. Would have been much better with 2 dimm slots and 1 m.2 with a larger ssd. That would be a perfect ultra portable

so one of my friends bought this at 199 and we just added 16gb of low latency ddr4 to it (single channel) and a cheap 2tb drive.

he is a beginner developer and this thing is absolutely awesome for that task.

Battery is about 4 hours does a 1M superpi run in about 13.5 seconds. Really really insane performance for the price. Build quality is great -- it is insanely compact - noticebly smaller than my 13.5" surface laptop 3, and probably 1/3 of the weight. Really really light. The keyboard is nicer than the surface as well, has a springier feel.

For $370 total he just got a nice laptop with 16GB of ram and 2 tb of SSD storage.

And it even has 2 pcie ssd slots (not just m2).

Only downside is the single channel ram. I think it could take a 32GB chip if someone was inclined to try it.

The intel SSD 660P for around $100 was used and bought some time ago - and then the ramstick was a $65ish ballistix from amazon so the math was 199+ 100 +70 (rounded)

So that 370 is without tax and just a rough tally of the components.

It was probably 400-430 with the tax + Walmart warranty, which is still insane.
