Mounting 5.25 Reservoir Sideways

I came to find myself quite curious if you can mount a 5.25 Reservoir on it's side? More over are their particular 5.25 Reservoirs designed/built for this purpose. The only 5.25 Inch Bay on my (new) case a CoolTek W2 is in the rear, and I would think this to actually be an ideal spot for the reservoir. Who knows might water cool my rig since I don't plan to upgrade for sometime.

Orientation won't make a difference but what you need to look out for is the loop position in general. If the outlet from res is at the top you need to make sure the res is completely full, otherwise it'll draw air.
Also, how will you fill the loop? Normally a res has a fillport on its top side. Filling a res lower than your loop while on it's side is problematic. You'd need to create a fill port from a length of tubing and make a fillport top or valve.
Laws of gravity mean you can't fill a loop very easily from its base. You'll need to engineer it to fill from the top. Especially given the res generally feeds the pump. Pump will need to be adjacent to res, certainly not higher.

filling is fairly easy if you have a extra pump
all you need is a small garden pump and a check valve and you will never need to be worried about air again
install a T fitting in the lowest part of your loop then the check valve, then the pump
and then just crackthe top of the res and turn the pump on when you are done simply turn the pump off and cap the t line the check valve prevents back flow and air from getting in

Not at you but I can see people sitting scratching heads and looking at some frankenstein set up. Just waiting for water to gush everywhere.

lol you could always install a schrader valve and use a brake system bleeder ...

I was thinking something like this as it would allow me to hide it with plenty of room. As far as filling it just fill it from the inlet port. That should be easy enough.

I went ahead and got about $500 in parts from EK, the loop so far works. 1 120mm by 38mm rad and a 240mm by 55mm rad. Full block for the video card and all finished with compression fittings. Not sure how much of a hassle having close to an inch of space of air in the reservoir is going to be. However, the pump intake is on the bottom.
