Mousepad recommendation

I just ordered a Microsoft IntelliMouse Optical because I've established that trackballs, no matter how much I love them, make my wrist ache. I'm looking for recommendations for a reasonable priced mousepad that would be suitable for it, because I got rid of all my mousepads when I switched to a trackball. Thanks.

I use a $4 pad from my work. There is no perfect mouse pad since it's a personal preference thing.

I just switched from an Logitech material pad to their G440 hard pad and boy it's like night and day the difference the mouse just glides around the pad with naff all effort now and is super accurate in game where as before meh not so much to much drag with the material one

This is what I use. I like it because it is super thin and stays in place. But I can peel it off the desk if I ever want to and it doesn't leave any residue behind. Don't be fooled by the re-usable crap. It is basically like a post-it note. It sticks the first time, but once you peel it off it never sticks as well again.

IME steelseries makes great pads, that last. Rubber is a must for me... i use pixart sensor driven mice(optical sensor) & they work really good together

Alternatively ,if you want to do it for almost nothing (cost wise), you can go to any dollar store or (poundland if you're in the UK ),and get dinner placemats that are very similar to certain types of hard acrylic mice pads and they work amazing. They cost a dollar

Currently using a SteelSeries QCK+ This was coming from a cheapo gel wrist rest mat. The size is fantastic and my G502 likes it well enough

Was about 2 weeks ago i thought i would stop using it and just using a very well made towel real soft( thick) how ever aching started again and stopped as i started to use the iMak Ergo.

Been using this plastic topped pad for a few years. its plastic over a metal base with foam grid underneath.

easy to clean these type.

only con they wear out mouse feet.

They do stay in place but mine ended up with a bubble swelling in the middle making a shit to use

A larger sized mouse does better for me than any pad (but that depends on your own hand size too). Enough to rest your palm and not have it float above it. I rotate from a table to even using a mouse on my bed (and just using the sheets as a surface). It doesn't make much difference to me.

I'm using a Razer Goliathus Control bought from eBay for $4 I think (probably a knockoff). Using it with a Microsoft Windows Mouse Optical. My brother has a legit Goliathus and I can't really tell the difference.

I use the Steelseries QCK Heavy. I have no complaints with it. I like the size which allowed me to drop my in-game sensitivities and DPI so that I can actually use the large size of the mousepad.

I never use mouse pads anymore. They are too restricting and get in the way. My Microsoft Wireless Comfort 5000 Mouse uses "BlueTrack" Technology that tracks on anything but glass. Same with my Logitech V450 Nano I use with my notebook. It tracks perfectly on carpet, pant leg, overstuffed Lazy-Boy chair arm, or for precision tracking, my flat desktop without the need of a mouse pad.

This trackball has a built-in wrist rest, so I don't think that's the issue.

I would suggest looking at cloth pads instead of hard pads (such as plastic) since you're using an optical sensor - hard pads often cause a higher lift-off distance with the mouse which you might find annoying.

From my experience, I can second the suggestions of the Steelseries QCKs above. Just pick the size and thickness you want (QCK/Mass/Heavy/+). The thinner pads (QCK and Plus) will feel a bit more slick because of the thinner (i.e. harder) base. I'm using a Puretrak Talent at the moment which I like - probably one of the most durable pads I've used, personally. The surface keeps consistent despite lots of use. The base is VERY grippy and is one of the few that lies flat out-of-the-box. And another good option is the Zowie P-SR or G-SR (same pad, just different sizes). The surface is excellent on these as well, but the edges are stitched which will prevent damage over time and makes a nice rounded edge as opposed to a sharp edge that you sometimes get on a non-stitched edge.

Most pads are good, honestly. The only ones I would have some apprehension with are once that have a coated surface (The Roccat Taito and Xtrac Ripper come to mind). The coating tends to wear over time and it feels like a completely different pad. Plus the coating on the Ripper caused a high lift-off distance on my optical mice.

I have tried other wrist rests with no luck too, not saying the Ergo will solve your issue but it did for me after going though a lot of others before it. It's all about the beads

I got mine from staple's maybe check their return requirement's so if it don't work you can always get ya money back .

If looking for decent wrist rest, I recommend a Belkin Gel Wrist Pad. I am convinced these saved me from surgery.

So the mouse arrived, but it neither works on my table, or my Dell XPS mousepad with plastic on top of a metal plate. I had to dig out one of my old cloth mousepads. What's the deal? Do the Microsoft optical mice not like anything even remotely reflective?
