You may never have heard of Bauhütte before, but they're a Japanese company specializing on gaming-geared furniture. Think chairs, desks and around-desk accessories, as well as a "cosplay suitcase"... Whatever that is. Now I don't know about you, but I think Bauhütte could and should think higher. And I can think of nothing that screams "gamer" more than a fully integrated gaming bed. They've actually done it.

"It's really just a twin bed with shelves and a beanie", you might say, but I think that there is actual thought behind this product. For one, the fact that it's a twin bed shows an extremely nuanced thought from the company - as in, "if you're getting this product, you're likely single anyway, so why waste the space on something you won't ever be able to change?". There are some shelves for your hydrating options and choice of snacks, and there's even a beanie that you can deploy to give you that sweet, 45º upright position that's great at avoiding some drainage issues involving the act of drinking and your windpipe. never mind the fact that the keyboard is shown at a 90º angle relative to the user: there's a tablet support on there so you need do nothing more than move your eyes towards your desired content, whatever that may be.

Putting the snark away, there could have been a much more interesting product here (I think) if the company has designed an actual gaming--oriented bed that was made for people with some sort of disability, aiding them in getting outside their reality )should they so choose) in comfort, even if just for a while. I'll let you come to your own conclusions - I came here just to show this to you. (Oh, and to tell you it's being sold at around $1,050).

Aside from the disaster that is the seating position; this is not healthy in any way or form for the youth of today - if that needs further elaboration, this product may be for you.

Perhaps later for VR gaming too..... Depending on how that goes of course.
Will we required to keep moving around or will the tech evolve to the point it's "Plug-in and go" without having to physically move to interact?
Would be good for that.

Without solving the problem of neural-machine interface link, VR will still need lots of physical activity for immersion input.

I was going to humourously label it "the last bed you will ever need" because you will likely die in it, but several beat me to the punch.

I game in an armchair, and even I wouldn't touch this thing as I know I'd go down a deadly rabithole real fast.

It also needs an integrated toilet if going full on "extreme."

Could be a good thing for someone who has a disability.
Even in a wheel chair you aren't supposed to stay bedridden. You are supposed to excercise. The whole thing is designed to minimize "up-time"

I'm not a fan of physical activity in general, but that "gaming bed" feels like an excuse to be excessively lazy.

Without solving the problem of neural-machine interface link, VR will still need lots of physical activity for immersion input.
I have my reservations about that after Sword Art Online

Could be a good thing for someone who has a disability.
I highly doubt that some Japanese gimmicky company that obviously cater to "gamer" crowd can be good for a disabled person.
From the looks of it, it's meant to make a disabled person out of a healthy person.

For these cases there are good solutions already, like a proper bed and VESA arm/tray (either pole-mounted, or wall/ceiling-mounted).

It's intended use is for in Japan, so physical activity might not be a concern. Isn't the Japanese known for staying physically active?
