Are you hyped? Ideal specs (aka recommended specs as always when it comes to flight sims :) ):
  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 Pro 2700X, or Intel i7-9800X
  • GPU: Radeon VII, or Nvidia RTX 2080
  • VRAM: 8 GB
  • RAM: 32 GB
  • HDD: 150 GB SSD
  • Internetspeed: 50 Mbps (6.3 MB/s)
I need a new rig and VR headset ASAP... Good bye summer holidays. My wife's gonna divorce me over this, but who cares. I'm happy to exchange her for virtual Boing 747 :)

I would be more hyped if it had military planes/helos with that map. But that might have implications. Also 32GB of RAM :D

You need 32 gigs in today's sims unfortunately. I have 16 gigs and struggle in DCS world & X Plane 11 (heavily moded) on certain maps in MP.

30 fully modeled planes and 40 handcrafted airports for 109 bucks... That's insane value! 30 planes alone would cost around $1,000 in DCS world. Things are getting better and better. I didn't expect to get value from Microsoft to be honest.

Once you get DCS level planes for this you'll see the costs are similar. FSX planes are typically $40-120, which is around the same price as DCS.

But yes the included roster isn't bad. I'm sure they're 80% of the way there in terms of realism.

Here are performance results from Digital Foundry's and Obsidian Ant tests (closed beta version of a game):

R9 3900X/2080TI -> 4K ultra = 47fps, 4K high =58fps, 4K medium = 68 fps, 4K low = 99 fps
i7 6700K/2080S -> 4K high 30 fps (over city), 1080p ultra = 42fps (city)/67fps (high altitude), 1080p high = 50 fps (city)/85 fps (high alt) 1080p medium = 100 fps (high alt), 1080p low = 110 fps (high alt)
i5 8400/RX 580 ->1080p high = 35fps, 1080p medium = 45 fps
i5 8400/GTX 1060 -> 1080p high = 43 fps, 1080p medium = 53 fps

This fps are approximation, but should give you an idea what kind of performance to expect. Most of the frame rates were captured at low altitudes over cities (most demanding), expect much better fps higher/less populated areas. As you can see AMD GPUs run like shit, but that's probably drivers issue at this stage of the game. FS 2020 is a power hogs there's no doubt about it. VR, especially supported HP Reverb G2, which resolution is 12% above 4K, will need 2080TI or equivalent to run it decently. I really hope upcoming RTX 3070 will be on pair with 2080TI:ohwell:.

Flight sims are hardware power hawks. You might be able to play it at 960x540p on low setting but is that really the way you wanna play sim?

The term is power HOGS... not hawks. :)

(sorry, I've seen you post that twice today, had to correct it, lol)

I'm curious about how a mid-range setup like my Ryzen 2600X/RX580 8GB/32GB ram would handle the game at 1080p and I'm sure I'm not the only one.
We don't all have high end systems, but perhaps this is the nearest:
i5 8400/RX 580 ->1080p high = 35fps, 1080p medium = 45 fps

@P4-630 no way those fps are realistic, in airports, or when flying near cities a 2080 ti gets around 30 fps at 1080p ultra

@EarthDog check fps, even 40 fps feels smooth because movement is so slow

I haven't run the frame counter yet... I will though.

I don't think this game has an integrated benchmark so I would expect results to vary wildly between reviews since there are so many different variables involved. You can set it to whatever presets they have, but that doesn't mean airport/city A doesn't get worse/better results than airport/city B/C/D etc. So while results will be all over the map making a comparison between reviews almost impossible, the review itself gives you a RELATIVE idea of performance. :)

I don't think I would touch this with a 10' pole as a reviewer... Loading takes so long, even on NVMe drive........Oof. Makes testing GTA V (and all of its settings that somehow change between restarts, lol) look easy, lol!

Same as above. I haven't run an FPS counter yet, but so far it's been smooth as silk.
Mind you, I have still have my training wheels on as there are a ton of controls to contend with :D

I just wish there were some actual control presets under Presets. having to set up my HOTAS completely from scratch has been frustrating outside of basic axis I have no idea what should be considered important. Some guidance would be nice. I have to reach around my HOTAS to use my keyboard(don’t know those mappings any better either) Elite Dangerous for example i just select my HOTAS and make like 2 key changes to the preset.
I would just like at least a basic profile to work with....I’m no stranger to making profile, I spent months perfecting tweaking profIles for IL-2 that even years later i got random requests for. But even then the basics were mapped.

I mean my problems are actually pretty “first world“ the guys who spent money on the extra panels can’t even use them on top of having to setup their HOTAS/pedals etc. Heck my TrackIR was updated and ready to go and that’s pretty niche. But everyone with all the proper sim gear have nothing to work with so far...
