Hi guys I bought my MSI GTX 1080 too but I have a problem which makes me crazy. I've just wanted to test my card so I downloaded Unigine Heaven. Everything was ok I did my first benchmark without OC and I got that score

FPS:
113.4 Score:
2856 Min FPS:
30.3 Max FPS:
242.4

But then I realized everyone gets 3k scores. So I overclocked my GPU like that from Afterburner

Core Voltage +75 Core Clock +90 Memory Clock +400

I got 2GHz.Then I made another benchmark and here is the results.

FPS:
119.6 Score:
3012 Min FPS:
27.1 Max FPS:
246.4

It was great for me. Finally I got my 3k so I turned everything to default settings from Afterburner and I reseted BIOS

But after then when I was getting 1683 MHz before OC I think (Actually I'm not sure even a little bit I didn't interested with MHz before OC) Now I get very often 1949 MHz or like that.

But I remember a little bit that I got 1683 most before OC. And when I looked the(Not sure again) MSI Gaming App 1683 was the last limit. But now I get 1949 MHz from Gaming Mode and 1873 MHz from silent mode. Did I messed up something ? I don't want to overclock my GPU what is the problem?

I use 8+6 pin and I think that happened with OC (Of course I turned it to default).Or It was always like that and I only saw the 1683 MHz.

Someone told me that its about GPU Boost 3.0 But the other guys without overeclock get 1800 MHz with founders edition. I got the 1949 with same degree. So I don't know please someone help me. Card uses like 1050 mV.

Benchmark Scores Faster than yours... I'd bet on it. :)
It boosts to the clocks you are seeing in the screenshot... 1949 MHz. It is how the card works.

But I didnt overclocked it. I mean ı changed it back.Sorry Im a little bit newbie :).

Boost Clock / Base Clock / Memory Frequency
1847 MHz / 1708 MHz / 10108 MHz (OC Mode)
1822 MHz / 1683 MHz / 10010 MHz (Gaming Mode)
1733 MHz / 1607 MHz / 10010 MHz (Silent Mode)

Thats what on MSI's website. But mine one is 1873 at silent and 1949 or 1961 at gaming mode. So am I remembering it false ? Was it 1949 MHz all the time without OC?

Yes. That is how boost works on NVIDIA cards. The rating you see is a MINIMUM boost. The ACTUAL boost will depend on the power used, temperature, and quality of the silicon.

Thank you form your reply. If you reply that too I will be very appreciate you:)

I was wondering In my GPU Z My Base Clock is 1683 and my Boost Clock is 1823. So how is that possible to get 1961 MHz without OC. It says the limit is 1823 right ?Now I think 1823 is the limit and it boosts to 1823 but With the GPU Boost 3.0 my card boosts itself to 1.9 GHz Right?

So why the other reference designs gets 1800 MHz at the same degrees? They're using GTX 1080 so they have GPU Boost 3 too?Someone said me it should be higher because MSI is 132% higher TDP default so it gets more MHz at same degrees. Do you agree that?

I have answered all that already... :)

Yes.. it is GPU Boost which causes it to go higher.

I don't agree with your last paragraph. Again, the quality of the silicon matters as well as other factors as to how high it will boost by default. The power limit has NOTHING to do with stock boost clocks as it will not hit the limit. It is not until you overclock and add voltage that you will need to raise that power limit. Look at power % in MSI Afterburner.

In this video his default curve settings increasing 1850 most. But my default curve setting increasing until 2000 Mhz. Is it about the these TDP and temperature things? Or becuse of his default Card settings are for stock cards.Or both?

I think its because of stock boost clocks according to you right? They're a little bit limited than us.

BTW my power limit is 100%

Clock speeds are rises by tempreature. And when I'm with same degrees with a founders edition I have still more Clock speed because my Default Boost clocks are more than a stock one right?

MY ASUS 1080 FE has MAX boost of 1733 on paper but it is running at 1890 in games... so i guess the Boost clock on paper is just a minimum, as long as the card stays below 83 degrees.

there is far more to it than simple temperatures.. the card boosts to whatever it thinks is okay whilst staying within certain parameters.. the temperature is just one of them..

run something like furmark and it wont maintain its so called minimum.. its like a built in idiot proofing..

So basically, there is no need to OC the core since it is boosting as high as it can when 99% load?
Would the core boost even higher if you just up the power limit? Or no?
