msi gtx570 twin frozr III higher clocks

Hi all...

i've bin playing with my gtx 570 clocks for awhile now.. but i just don't get this card...
at the moment i got it stable @ 930/1860/2000 @ 1.125 (maximum i can set in AB)
Temps don't exceed 60°c (reported by Realtemp, MSI AB, and gpu-z so i think i can safely say its accurate. but whenever i try to raise the core/shader clock by even 5 mhz and bench/test it, the display driver crashes immediately
if i look at the temps i should have plenty of headroom here. but still the card won't go any further.
now from what i know the aux voltage has something to do with mem clocks. but i leave that at default because it won't give me a huge boost in fps. and it can cause instability if i increase the clocks like 25 mhz..

have i reached the maximum attainable clocks for this chip ?? or am i doing something wrong here.

Maybe temps don't go up because of the cooler the GTX570 uses. Also, when i OC my old 8800GTS temps didn't were as high as to crash, but when i pass 645Mhz on the core the card crash, 10Mhz less and everything works fine. 930Mhz on the core is pretty good on a GTX570 anyway.

I wouldn't push the 570 too far since reports of VRMs blowing still exist.

ain't that basicly ref. design cards? i mean that was that, bcs the MSI's GTX570 Power Edition with their Twin Frozer III cooler is custom pcb.

hmm this is said to be for ati cards, but it might work for nvidia.
i just changed the value to 2 and i am going to stress test again and see if it worked.
i reply once i know more..

I used to have this card. I don't have proof but I'm going to say its the VRMS overheating, though I wouldn't worry about this card having them blow out on you. Raising the fan speed fixed the problem even though the core temp dropped at max 5C from its already cool 70C(at 920mhz)

My card was pretty unstable above 905mhz core 1500VRAM, your pretty much as far as your going to go with it. I much prefer my 6970, I max out the afterburner sliders without any loss of stability at all.

plus vrm overheating is mainly happening to the standard nvidia reference board, but with this twin frozr III cooler and a custom design PCB, my temps have never exceeded 70°c even in summer where ambient temps where sometimes above 50°c.
i just wondered if there is anything i can do to even raise the clocks more then 930 core... but i've come to the conclusion that this is the maximum performance i am going to get out of this chip.
still 930 is not a bad clock. especially if u look @ the reference board that is clocked @ 732mhz still a good 21 % increase of performance

true, and the twin frozr III one was "Customized" by msi themself... it says so right on the box. and i am assuming msi dont print lies on there boxes xD

Afterburner will display VRM temps if the MSI card supports it. The Lightning cards have VRM monitoring, so maybe the 560ti TFIII and the GTX 570 Power Edition TFIII have the same capability

uhm the 570 twin frozr III PE does not have vrm sensor temps.
so i cannot monitor that one.

yep i can think of one... u just got a bad card.. cuz i've ownd serveral gtx 200/400/500 cards and i never blew up the vrm...
