I noticed that. I had to replace it on the reference 6870 of mine. Maybe the TwinFrozrII is good but the TIM job sucks?

Worth a shot- the TFIII only uses 4 screws and I had it back in and running in less than 10 minutes. I used some TIM I had leftover from a Spire cooler I bought a while back (didn't want to use AS5) The old TIM looked like dried out toothpaste and they used too much of it :shadedshu

And that's your right! (I prefer the newer revisions as well), but when I show a Twin Frozr 4 to some other guys they might say they prefer the "older" look of the TFII/TFIII.

I like the looks of TF 4 also but was forced to go with TF III (GTX680) because of stock issues.

Happy with my temps... highest I have seen it go is 62C.

Maybe with this storm coming I'll replace the TIM on both GPUs and then test it so I can get the most accurate comparison. I suspect that the radial fan is louder but moves more air. Also getting that air out of the case is a biggie. The TwinFrozrII in my rig has the added benefit that there is a 200 CFM fan (running at ~30%,) right on the side panel next to it, so it's getting fresh air, the reference chip is not.

...but I think there will be some testing in my future. After all the northeast will be getting yet another storm. It will probably be all rain for you, Norton. Snow for me up here though. Gives me time to do this. :p

My MSI hd7950 OC TF III BE does not jump above 61C on full load. Reach 1.2GHz/GPU

Have you noticed any strange card behaviour? I've got a 2nd card now, replaced 1st as I thought that is something wrong with it. But another one is exactly the same!
Everything looks fine when idle. Quiet and nice. On load with anything which load card at 80-100%, for example MSI Kombustor, the card after reaching about 55 - 60 Celsius runs fans at 4500 rpm, which is 100% throttle. In the same time its showing throttle percentage at only 45-50 (which is no more than 3000 rpm. In that time changing throttle to any value gives no effect. Fans are at 100% until card gets colder. I can change fans speed at idle without any problems.
So, under load its noisy like hell!!! In my case is 13.7db Louder not quieter! Of course, temps wont exceed 60 Celsius, but I would prefer card to be quiet than cold.

Depends on the case that you have. Yes, do the same to me, but the board does not exceed 64C, with sound inconvenient. When I play, I use the speakers at maximum, so I have no problems. Other than that is a wonderful card.

In that case these cards are rubbish and I would not recommend them to anyone. Not having any control on fans speeds, as card thinks its smarter than user is a bad thing. And setting 100% throttle when showing only 46% is not a normal behaviour in my opinion.
Had many cards before and with all of them Ive had full control on fans, but this one is a one cool and noisy joke!

My case is an old Antec P182, well ventilated and its internal temperature is not much higher than external one.

I have already, unfortunately version 6 +6 pin power. There is also with hd7970 PCB 6+8 pin power supply .

Is there anything significantly different (performance or otherwise critical) about your version, (2PMD) and the Twin Frozr model? I have one of each and am considering ditching the older (2PMD) for another Frozr if it is worth the trouble.
