I want to buy MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum S939 board. I thought it was PSU dying, changed 2 different brand PSUs (brand new) and still it behaves wierd. If I put to S3 or Hibernate it will not wake up or boot until I totally unplug the 20 pin power cable from board and reset it. So I think the board is giving up slowly.

I don't want to spend on a whole new rig. If I can find someone willing to sell me a good working board then it will be great.

Note: It doesn't need to be MSI platinum board, just looking for a board with NVidia chipset and AGP slot in it. Even the Asrock ULI is fine. Even ECS is fine.

Somebody help me.

Other option is if someone wants to buy the 939 stuff from me.
Have S939 Manchester X2 3800
HIS X1950 pro AGP
2 x 1GB DDR 3200 Corsair value select ram
probably an IDE WD 200G drive.

could probably still get a decent chunk of cash for that 1950 agp, and then grab a 4670 or smth, that would allow you to use a pci-e board

i agree just sell the video card and get a pci express one, a 4670/50 or a 9600GT or similar
even an ati 3xxx series

not a bad system btw, im using a x2 4200 939pin as my second system works good for me

I've got an old ASUS A8V Deluxe sitting around, but the last time I tried booting it up it wouldn't POST right. I didn't have much time to troubleshoot it, but I bet it still works. It's a VIA chipset though if that makes a difference.

I still have A MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum mobo ;) its a shame it forms part of my backup - Frag n' Rag rig

Ive owned 2 of these MSI mobos - the 2nd one i bought was an OEM off ebay - may be able to find some left there somewhere.

if anything im sure you'd be able to find SOMETHING for AGP on ebay - good luck

Thanks everybody.

FatForester - my last option would be Via, not that I don't like it, but if I get a same chipset board, chances are I don't need to re-install windows activating etc.

Actually I was thinking of getting one of those cheap 939 PCI-E Foxconn board from Computergeeks. I would spend just around $45 shipped for a decent board. I have a spare X600SE that will get me some time to buy a new card. Plan is to give my X800GTO to my wife and get myself some thing better.

I guess 1950 agp might go for some value which I might put against a board.

But still if somebody has the agp version please do post or pm me.

Thanks,

Actually I saw something else too for $18 or so + shipping. bare OEM board. But used one. I would rather buy here from a known person than getting from ebay and getting screwed.

Looking at this board to buy, suggestions.

Had some good reviews too.

That Foxconn board would be a good one. They make some quality products. The only thing is you'll need a PCI Express video card to go with it.

Edit:
I see you already have the PCIe card covered.

not ALL ebay is bad & if i read correctly - then your gonna have to reinstall XP if u do choose to go with the geeks. - something u wanted to avoid doing.

If you DO get shafted ebay will refund your money

Thanks,

I just bought one the the Foxconn S939 SLI boards from Comp Geeks via Amazon.com. Not bad in my opinion and it was cheap and I got to use my 184 pin Corsairs!!!!. Got a X2 3800 hummin in there now along with 2x 8800GS folding 24/7. It is rock solid.

Shoot, I wish this thread had been posted two weeks ago. I had a Gigabyte K8NS 939 Ultra that I was trying to sell on craigslist. Unfortunately, I agreed to donate it to a new camera system I'm building for the company I work for.

It's hard to imagine that only a year ago, ebay had pages and pages of nForce3 motherboards and now they seem to be a rarity.

yup, who the hell still runs AGP except me? My wife doesn't want to upgrade that machine.
