MSI aims to continue their legacy of excellent performance and overclocking with the new Z590 line-up. Targeting the top end of the mainstream stack, the MSI MEG Z590 ACE features a robust VRM design, four M.2 slots, Thunderbolt 4, and a plethora of overclocking features. Has the MSI MEG Z590 ACE hit its target?

Is it me or are the prices of Z590 boards way too high? The B550 variant is just above half the price of the Z590 variant while offering quite similar features (Z590 board has slightly more than B550). Also wondering about possible new chipsets on the AMD side.

US$499.99 for a "the top end of the mainstream" MB? Jesus Christ! Hell on Earth for DIY PC builders has arrived.
Indeed. Now it wouldn't be so bad if they offered at least a 5-yr warranty and 10 years of bios/drivers support.

I think that might be more like "mainstream instead of HEDT" not "mainstream instead of high end."

I can get a R5 5600X and a STRIX B550-A by topping up $10. Still a more complete-ish system than just a mobo with no processor installed.

Indeed you are 100% correct and especially with the new pricing being proffered. But nevertheless I have been pondering to upgrade my 12-year old and cobbled together set-up. Over the years it has been 3-times now that I had to replace my power supply, AIO, motherboard, memory and GPU. Most of which came of course with dictated compliments of Dell's propiatary hardware. With that my PC almost smells new. I never had nor eyed a MSI mobo. And wonder how much better in general MSI compares to ASUS. In this instance the Z590 Hero VIII possibly being in the same mobo-league and pricing. Prices of course are running amok and like all upgraders we are being held hostage with the unavailability of a decent GPU. No rest for the weary.

The more i see ACE models Z390/490 and current 590 of MSI mobos the more i agree that would be my next system board, finally i will replace my aged Sandy Bridge this summer. Almost all features i need except second and 5-10G LAN (just in case and for future proofing) and one of the best VRM for great longevity and stability during summer like my current ASUS Z77 deluxe.

Is it possible to connect monitor(s) to thunderbolt ports so that processor´s iGPU delivers video signal? Those displayport inputs, are they mainly for video capturing?
