@manofthem that was a 45 min job. I had it over nighted and it showed up an hour before I bad to leave. The hx850 wouldn't even run at the clocks I posted in the other club. Well it did at 1st till she hit over 1kw then it just slowly lost here steam and I could hardly clock at all. I just used msi an and set the clocks I knew would fail on the other PSU and it ran, so I went higher and it still ran... She ran hard and I didn't need to volt it up like before. When I get back tomorrow its rest time then Thursday its a tidy up for the cables and then I'll bench the shit oitta it ;)

But yes thank you she is a sexy beast for sure and couldn't be happier. The red sleaved PCI gpu cables just match my system and all the cable's are supper flexible. I like now having both 8 and 4 pin CPU power cables running at the same time. The hx only had a single 8 pin you hook to the CPU power socket.

I don't know mabey its all in my head but the system seems different, like rock solid and not sponge like.. I'm just amazed at how having clean stable current vs old worn out current works..

I want moar lol.. Mabey the bigger corsair case and another 290 is in the near future ;)

What driver are you guys using - It seems that the latest beta is not working well for me. I get a lot of bluescreens and lockups that seems to be strictly from software level.

It seems that the betas give many of us issues, but most concur that 13.12 is a very trusty driver install.

@fullinfusion Moar? I'd say a Corsair 900d, another 290, and a lot of sexy :D

It's that power thing lol.. Kinda like a fat kid wanting moar cake haha. And @TheGoat Eater I've stated in a number of posts to use the 13.12 driver. The betas are no good unless you are testing mantle. I love beta drivers because hey ya may luck out but these are so immature. Do a clean of all beta AMD driver files and stay away from DDU to remove the beta driver. Do it in the add remove programs and then goto c: drive and program and program x86 folders and any AMD files left over Delete them. On my #1 post download the latest AMD uninstaller and run it after what I said before on how to remove the driver. Also look for my link on check for old drivers from the how to geek and run it and do a over all clean up if needed. Then pop on the 13.12 and call it a day and wait like the rest of us for a PROPER beta to come out.

One more thing and I can't stress this enough but if the OS is fairly new and after the clean up and install make a system image to fall back on when shit goes wrong from these betas.

Good luck and keep us posted on how things turn out.

Just noticed that core clock fluctuates when frame rate is capped. I guess it's power tuning thing. Am I right?

idk if anyone else has a 290x gamer but this is how mine is working out so far.

ram will do 1450, core voltage seems to have no impact. it seems to drop in performance on ever 51mhz and it takes to near the next 50 to regain it. i would guess it is some kind of latency strap on the ic?

core will do 1130 no problems on stock volts, even running at 1150 but with artifacts. +63mv gets it stable until 1180 where normal afterburner runs out of voltage.

turn up the wick on my cpu and it results in.

Wow, it just snapped off? Didn't think the fans had to work that hard to keep the GPU cool.

Newegg processed my RMA and should be shipping out my replacement card in the next day or two! I'm a bit bummed though, the Sapphire Tri-X is $494 right now, but there is a -15$ promo code. Makes it almost as cheap as the MSI. =[

send him a direct message, its common for plastic fans to break, if you could replace it yourself id say do it but i dont think MSI just gives out individual pieces, I think they should just ship a new cooler to you, you could always research the aftermarket coolers too dude

Dont know what happened. I changed the thermal paste a few times and had the card in the system and seen it was running way warmer then usual.
I pulled the card out and when I went to the table to re-tim the card I was like WTF is this! I looked all over the place and here it was laying in the bottom of the case.

I used an epoxy to bond it and its curing time is 1 hr at 72f but once mixed you have 15 seconds to set it in place or your SOL!

It's holding and being broken off at the center it's the slowest part and no issues so far. If the blade broke off in the middle Id be concerned about ballance issues but yeah I have no idea what happened.

Im going to call MSI tomorrow and explain to them what happened and see if they can just send me out a new fan shroud assembly because im not going to RMA it over that. Just give me a new fan an i'll be happy.

Huh. I would think it'd be cheaper for them to send out a replacement fan that go through a full RMA process. Hopefully the epoxy doesn't elasticize or fail over time.

I figured, I just meant that it doesn't lose it's hardness over time. Then again, not sure if that's an issue with most epoxys.

not really, just buy what the task calls for, they harden within 24 hrs time.

yeah this one I'll have to look in the morning so as not to disturb the better half.

It was 2 gels in 2 syringes as one unit and just push out the amount you need and they said 15sec of mix time and hardens in 1min, cures fully in 1hr at 72f

Seems to be working well but still the point being they shouldn't fly apart for no reason.

Cheap plastic being made these days and Im hoping MSI will just send me out a pair of shrouds with fans so I can swap them out.

One broke and the other card's fan is whooshy sounding. If I place my hand close to it to disturb the airflow it smartens up.

Mabey im just to picky as always owned Reference blower style fans and they were just noisy, but the new ones are pathetic IMO!

I just need to talk to the right guy and Im sure I'll get a new set.

Hell Corsair sent me a BRAND NEW 650D case just because I had a front end fan intake noise. I didn't expect it as nothing was said.

Just one day I come home and a box with what case it was, was sitting on my door step.... Just had the shipping details and that was it..

Thanks CORSAIR!!! mighty good of ya!

We shall see lol

I trust ya man, just busting your balls that's all.

And so far the fin replacement card has been moved to the top PCI-E slot and been @ 100% most of the night. No vibration or problems.

I just need the AS5 to work it's magic, but needs somewhere around 150-200 hrs of load and idle to align all the silver to get the best heat transfer.

So far I've been good.... 1c below throttle at max clocks so I'm happy for now.
