MSI Releases the Optix G273QPF Monitor Featuring Rapid IPS Tech

MSi today added to its gaming monitor portfolio with the Optix G273QPF monitor. The new entry features a 27",Rapid IPS panel with 1-ms response times and up to 165 Hz refresh rate - and features support for AMD's FreeSync technology and NVIDIA's G-Sync Compatible program. The WQHD, 2560 x 1440 panel still offers one of the best balanced experiences in terms of maximum framerate and pixel density, and further features a good color coverage (99% sRGB coverage rate, 93% DCI-P3). Maximum brightness is quoted at 300 cd/m², and maximum contrast ratio is 1000:1.

Available I/O includes 2x HDMI 2.0b, 1x DisplayPort 1.2, and 1x Audio out, eschewing any USB connections in favor of a lower consumer price. Quality of life capabilties of the Optix G273QPF include stand tilting from -5 ° to 20 °, 45 ° to 45 ° swiveling, and -90 ° pivot for a vertical workspace. The MSI Optix G273QPF monitor is expected to be available for purchase from July 22nd for a price around the $400/€400 mark.

Nice monitor. Though i never use the normal stands, which are quite often rubbish. I have a nice desk stand with a VESA mount on it instead.

Why is this monitor important at all? MSI has had 165hz rapid IPS dcip3 monitors for a long long time now, 3 variants of it released last year. only difference between those was DCI-P3 coverage. this is the middle tier one released last year, its literally no different lol

we should be getting 240hz 27" 1440p for this price now. industry is stagnated as crap

It's same thing as superspeed IPS by acer, and each company has their own name for it. but its new IPS tech that has rolled out over last 2 years or so.

I own an Acer 165hz SuperSpeed IPS 1080p. and it is really noticeable, looks almost like a TN panel for no ghosting/smearing, but the wonderful IPS colors.

its a major advancement.

only issue for 27" 1440p monitors is backlight glow... my 1080p has almost none, but i guess for some reason when you go to 27" in size its much much harder to control the light issues. thats just my guess.

my next monitor will be LG OLED tv.

It's not, it was more of a matter that it was $100 cheaper than the article said.
Also, I like something that doesn't look like it was designed for a 13 year old.

It's the physical size that increases backlight glow on IPS. The actual angle of glow is likely similiar to what it is on smaller 1080p screens but since your viewing angle to the corners is now greater (assuming you're sitting the same distance from the screen) the percieved level of backlight glow is worse.

I prefer VA for the OLED-like contrast, though you really have to do your research to find VA models that have actual measured pixel responses fast enough for 165Hz.
