I ended up getting a used PC that has a MSI RTX 3080 Ventus 3X (open box from a company who deals with bestbuy. It was a Trident X machine). I took the card out and saw these markings on the PCB and just wondering if anyone else is aware of this?

The Machine had an odd smell to it too. Like smoking or whatever.

I tested it in benchmarks for a bit and didnt see GPU temps go up past 74C and it seem to ran fine. So I cant say much more.

That could be the smell of solder, it looks like a poor repair job with one Cap missing still.

Which cap?

I checked a sample GPU on images and checked the card, seems to have the same number of capacitors.

here is one I found on reddit of someone taking it apart.

I dont think I am missing any caps

You're probably correct, it just appeared to me that the one on the right in the top red circle was gone and the solder there looks damaged.

the card looks like in mint condition, so I dunno.

Updating nicehash quickminer was a mistake. The damn auto oc tune is crashing when trying to auto oc my RTX 3070 which worked before. I read others with same issue. But the Auto OC tune works for the 3080.

looks like underfill that somehow splattered onto the board

probably MSI being MSI in their production.

So far so good. The card is mining currently. 100C on vram but doing about 95MHs. So I am happy.

I put a GTX 980ti in its steed on the computer (the MSI Trident X that the gpu came in).
