i just bought the msi pro carbon today...i was going to go with fry special of i5-7600k and asus z270 tuf mark 2....when i saw the amd box sitting at frys(they only got one in), i grabbed it....its going to cost me more in the long run, but i have one intel rig allready...i have not cpu yet, but will probably grab the x1700 ryzen....people talk down ryzen in gaming, but this is going to run a 4k screen, and ryzen reall y shines at 4k.......anyone have this board yet?

At 4k processor choice really doesn't matter. You basically chose due to hype because the i5 will do as well as the 1700x and a 7700k would've been the best choice for gaming either way.

its going to be 4k, and 4k uses more gpu power..i have read a review, and ryzen is very close to intel in 4k....in lower resolutions its different,,,i love 4k, will never go back to anything lower...

@Toothless you could have found a more circumvent way :)

Assuming you're right that is and frankly, i disagree. Given a good GPU, the 7700K is already becoming the bottleneck in recent games; already mind. Give it a couple of years and eeeeverybody will be looking for space in the rear to shove it in.
He did 'choose due to hype' as you say, but to be fair, that's exactly what people buying Intel 4cores today do as well.
(fair is fair)

@ OP, no clue about your mobo friend, sorry. How much did you pay for it if you don't mind saying? And enjoy your new rig :)
edit: Fry's.. did you make sure it was sealed?

Lol what, a 7700k being a bottleneck? Fam there are people running 4k on 3770k's with no issue whatsoever and the bottleneck still being the multi-GPU configs. I could stick a 1080TI into my rig and play 4k just as well as you could and most of the time better than a 1700x with both sides being overclocked.

(let's see that Ryzen hit 4.6ghz and not have a DRAM spasm for the first time)

That's a great Motherboard, but I could never afford one at the prices here, even an arm and a leg isn't enough.

Really?? Only on the anti-Intel hysteria train, my friend. :)

 Wait, I think that was a slam on the "low end" of Intel CPU's, like "even a lowly 3770k can run it" LOL.

FX AMD user here. If the cpu ain't fast enough too push hundreds of frames using TODAYS high-end gpu in 1080p then it wouldn't be fast enough to push FUTURE gpus at 4k. UNLESS, they start coding games to utiize more threads rather than sheer frequency.
